Congressional Hearings on Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Possible
The day after a national pro-life organization released a new comprehensive report showing the numerous abuses at Planned Parenthood abortion centers as reasons for a Congressional investigation, one top Republican says that s possible.
Yesterday, Americans United for Life issued a new report featuring a groundbreaking analysis of the nation s largest abortion business and saying it has uncovered evidence of systemic financial irregularities within the abortion giant, which receives more than $363 million in federal and state taxpayer funding, and that Congress should investigate.
AUL staff combed through 20 years of Planned Parenthood financial data and the report documents the known and alleged abuses by Planned Parenthood, including the misuse of federal health care and family planning funds, failure to report criminal child sexual abuse, failure to comply with parental involvement laws, assisting those in engaged in prostitution and/or sex trafficking, and dangerous misuse of the abortion drug RU-486.
Now, Rep. Cliff Stearns, who chairs the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee says he is potentially planning hearings on the abortion business.
I believe my Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee should review the findings of this report and possibly hold a hearing on why taxpayers are funding Planned Parenthood with its record of abuse and violations of state laws, Stearns told Politico. The American people deserve a concrete reason for funding Planned Parenthood; a reason I do not believe exits. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/congressional-hearings-on-planned-parenthood-abortion-biz-possible/
Planned Parenthood Faces Protests of New Michigan Abortion Biz
The Planned Parenthood abortion business wants to come to Auburn Hills, Michigan, but pro-life advocates there aren t going to make it easy for them to open up shop in this Detroit suburb.
Lizz Winstead, the co-creator of the Daily Show will host a fundraiser for the abortion business on Saturday night in Michigan as Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan faces a standstill in its efforts to bring the new abortion center to town. Monica Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, will be on hand to protest the event along with perhaps dozens of pro-life advocates.
Every woman I know has used Planned Parenthood. I am no exception, Winstead told the Free Press.
But Miller says Planned Parenthood also has an abortion agenda that more than makes up for any legitimate health services it provides and prevents the Michigan community from supporting it. We are picketing the Planned Parenthood fund-raiser to send a public message that this group kills innocent human life, and its clinic, indeed its whole anti-life agenda, is not wanted, she told the newspaper.
Residents of the area and pro-life people from all over the Detroit Metro community will voice their opposition to the proposed Planned Parenthood abortion business at the recently-purchased location of 1625 N. Opdyke Road.
Our group has dedicated itself to doing all we can to stop this clinic from opening and is reviewing possible legal actions available towards this end, CPLS director Monica Miller told LifeNews.com. In addition, we seek to arouse growing and continuous protest against the establishment of a place where innocent human lives are put to death. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/planned-parenthood-faces-protests-of-new-michigan-abortion-biz/
911 Calls Show Series of Botched Abortions, Complaints Filed
A pro-life organization is set to release a series of 911 calls showing staff at the Southwestern Women s Options late-term abortion center in New Mexico calling for help on various occasions over a 15-month time period after women were injured in abortions.
Some of the calls show life-threatening situation where women s lives and health were at risk as a result of failed abortions. The pro-life group, Operation Rescue, says the calls, which will be made public today and in the coming weeks, reveal a disturbing pattern of life-threatening abortion complications that routinely endanger the lives and health of women.
The first released 911 recording was placed on February 10 of last year and the content of the call reveals Southwestern Women s Options had just completed a second-trimester abortion on a 17-year old girl who suffered from a fever, a possible sign of infection, a rapid pulse, and uncontrolled bleeding.
She just had the second tri procedure and she has a fever that s spiking right now and then her pulse is up to 172 with some bleeding that they can t get under control, a SWO employee told the 911 dispatcher. The call originated at 11:04 PM. The SWO employee told the dispatcher, It looks like we re closed, but we are in the office.
Complications mentioned on other 911 recordings included uncontrolled uterine bleeding, an incident of heavy hemorrhaging , and a uterine rupture and all of the patients required emergency transport to local hospitals. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/911-calls-shows-series-of-botched-abortions-complaints-filed/
Planned Parenthood Abortion Methods Page Ignores The Baby
Out of sheer curiosity, I decided this afternoon to check out Planned Parenthood s website for information on obtaining an abortion. I presumed going in that there was a chance the information provided publicly would be much different from what women are told once they have signed on the dotted line. However, much to my surprise, there was actually a section dedicated to providing an explanation of What happens during an in-clinic abortion.
The surprise quickly waned once I read the description.
Gently empties your uterus ? That s it? That s the description Planned Parenthood provides of what happens during an in-clinic abortion? To be clear, this explanation is provided for the section on an aspiration abortion. Yet the same description (or lack thereof) is used to describe the process for performing a D&E, or dilation and evacuation. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/planned-parenthood-abortion-methods-page-ignores-the-baby/
Unborn Children Heal Themselves in First Days of Life
A recent study presented at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology shows that in the first five days of his existence, the tiniest of human beings has the capacity to heal himself of genetic abnormalities .
From the story:
Professor William G. Kearns told the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology that a three-day-old embryo (called a cleavage stage embryo) with an incorrect number of chromosomes (known as aneuploidy ) was capable of undergoing a dynamic process of genetic normalisation so that by day five, when it had developed to the blastocyst stage, it had become euploid, with the correct number of chromosomes.
This is an amazing process of healing directed by the embryo himself. Scientists are now engaging in research to determine how the embryo corrects the genetic problems. This is a significant finding because it points to another way in which the early human being develops as do all human beings, towards maturity of body. For other examples see Maureen Condic s White Paper, When Does Human Life Begin?: A Scientific Perspective. In the paper she explains that one of the very first acts of the human being in a zygotic stage (one cell) is to protect himself from other sperm by changing the outer layer of the cell. One cannot help but marvel how the young human being protects and heals himself even in the earliest moments of his existence. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/unborn-children-heal-themselves-in-first-days-of-life/
New Jersey Democrats Want Christie Planned Parenthood Veto Override
Democrats in the state legislature are using a special legislative session to attempt to override the veto pro-life Gov. Chris Christie issued to prevent taxpayers from having to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
Christie vetoed state taxpayer funding for family planning programs a second time earlier this month because the New Jersey is facing a fiscal crisis. Leading pro-life groups also called on Christie to veto the funding because public money goes to Planned Parenthood, which has been found to violate health and safety laws on abortions, aided sex traffickers in arranging abortions for victims, and engaged in financial impropriety.
The New Jersey Senate passed a measure to restore the $7.5 million in funding 26-13 with all of the Senate Democrats voting to restore the Planned Parenthood funds along with Republicans Diane Allen and Jennifer Beck.
Senate President Stephen Sweeney announced the Senate will be in session on Monday to try to override some of the Governor s line item vetoes, incuding the $7.5 million family planning funding, noted as SCR-10.
The $7.5M line item for family planning may be on the top of the list so it is imperative, that pro-life advocates call their legislators to oppose the override, says New Jersey Right to Life director Marie Tasy. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/new-jersey-democrats-want-christie-planned-parenthood-veto-override/
Supreme Injustice: Kagan Must Recuse Herself in Obamacare Case
The abortion industry, its supporters and the Obama administration are diligently working hand-in-hand. The two have enthusiastically coordinated their efforts to ensure that Mr. Obama s policy of abortion-on-demand will be protected for a long time to come.
Take, for example, the president s newest pro-abortion Supreme Court justice: Elena Kagan . . .
According to 28 USC 455, the Supreme Court justice must recuse herself from judging a case in which her impartiality can be reasonably questioned. This law also states that a justice must also recuse herself if while in a previous government service she served as counsel or adviser on the case or expressed an opinion about its merits.
Despite being taken to task by watchdogs like the Media Research Center and Judicial Watch, the Justice Department has refused to respond to most of the numerous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. They seek to uncover Ms. Kagan s part in Obamacare as the former Solicitor General. After partially responding to scant few of these requests, the department s email correspondence suggests that Ms. Kagan had some part in shaping the legislation s defense.
Following a letter signed by 49 House members that urges an investigation into contradictory statements by the Justice Department, the House Judiciary Committee is now launching a probe into the extent of Ms. Kagan s involvement. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/08/supreme-injustice-kagan-must-recuse-herself-in-obamacare-case/
New Hampshire Planned Parenthoods May Close After De-Funding
