Sponsor, Pro-Lifers: Democrats Blocked Sex-Selection Abortion Ban
The sponsor of the ban on sex-selection abortions in the House of Representatives, leading pro-life members of Congress and leaders of top pro-life organizations are unified in their response to yesterday s vote on the bill: Democrats blocked it.

Indeed, the same Democrats who are so frequently heralded as progressives today refused to make the United States the very last civilized nation on Earth to outlaw aborting a little girl simply for being a little girl, even as the human family on Earth is today missing 200 million baby girls, thanks to the grisly practice the majority of my colleagues across the aisle couldn t find it in their hearts to condemn, says Rep. Trent Franks, the Arizona Republican behind the bill.

I am heartened that so many of my colleagues came together to, in an overwhelming majority, support the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act, Franks said. Though it did not secure the two-thirds majority necessary to pass under suspension rules, I am confident that this is not the end, but merely the opening salvo in ensuring the words, It s a girl, are no longer a death sentence for so many unborn girls. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/sponsor-pro-lifers-democrats-blocked-sex-selection-abortion-ban/

Christian, Jewish Groups Opposed Sex-Selection Abortion Ban
While the whole of the pro-life movement pushed hard in the days leading up to the vote on the bill to ban sex-selection abortions to rally behind around it, some Christian churches remained silent on the measure or, worse, took positions opposing it.

The church-related groups Methodist Federation for Social Action, Justice and Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ and Presbyterian Voices for Justice voiced their opposition to the sex-selection abortion ban. They were joined by a number of Jewish groups, including: Hadassah, Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, Jewish Women International, National Council of Jewish Women, Union for Reform Judaism, Women of Reform Judaism, and the Women s League for Conservative Judaism. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/christian-jewish-groups-opposed-sex-selection-abortion-ban/

Abortion and Girls: Pro-Choice Now Equals Pro-Gendercide
With President Barack Obama, Planned Parenthood and Democrats in Congress now standing united against a ban on sex-selection abortions, several pro-life writers are drawing the conclusion that pro-choice now equals pro-gendercide.

Obama, the nation s biggest abortion business and lawmakers in Congress are agreed that, if a right to abortion exists, that right means women ought to be able to select abortion for any reason without interference from the government even if the reason is killing the unborn child because she is a girl and not a boy. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/abortion-and-girls-pro-choice-now-equals-pro-gendercide/

Sex-Selection Ban Sponsor Still Hopes to Stop Race-Based Abortions
Before the House voted on the bill to ban sex-selection abortions, the sponsor of the measure removed a portion of the bill that would ban abortions based on race for example if a mother decided to have an abortion of a baby who is black.

Although the idea may sound far fetched, the Georgia legislature has heard evidence from women involved in mixed race relationships saying they have felt pressure and coercion to have an abortion because of it. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/sex-selection-ban-sponsor-still-hopes-to-stop-race-based-abortions/

127 Studies Show Abortion Raises Pre-Term Birth Risk
A newly released research paper charges that medical journals and researchers are burying data that shows a link between abortion and dangerous preterm births in later pregnancies.

Dr. Byron Calhoun makes these charges in Abortion and Preterm Birth: Why Medical Journals Aren t Giving Us The Real Picture, released by C-FAM (publisher of the Friday Fax).

China Hits Couple With Record Fine for Second Child
If you thought it was costly to have a child, consider how much one couple in China paid. For violating China s one-child policy by having a second child, the parents were fined 1.3 million yuan ($204,114).

Local family planning authorities worked with commerce, industry and township officials to investigate the couple s finances. The parents were deemed rich in assets and hit with the highest fine on record. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/china-hits-couple-with-record-fine-for-second-child/

Abortion Practitioner Loses Medical License for Pill Factory
A Virginia-based abortion practitioner has had his license suspended by the state for operating a pill factory from his clinic dispensing dangerous narcotics to at least ten patients without prior treatment or proper medical work-ups. Some of the patients were known drug addicts.

Abortion practitioner Joel Match saw his medical license suspended last month by the Virginia Board of Medicine amid findings about the drug operation he ran. Now, calls to his Chantilly pain treatment center are unanswered.

Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Policy Advisor for Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation, informed LifeNews about Match. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/abortion-practitioner-loses-medical-license-for-pill-factory/

Pro-Life Youth Making a Difference in Stopping Abortion
In 1991, I was a girl of 9 years old. Scraggly and insignificant to the world s perspective, but I was taught in my family about the significance of the life of the unborn. I knew abortion was wrong- before God, before man, and before the very description of our American constitution. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/06/01/pro-life-youth-making-a-difference-in-stopping-abortion/

Sex-Selection Abortion OK Makes Obama the Abortion President
It didn t take long. Just hours after Planned Parenthood endorsed President Obama and launched an attack ad campaign against GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, the White House stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Planned Parenthood and voiced its opposition to legislation in the House legislation that would have banned sex-selection abortions in the United States. As we now know, this life-saving measure failed to clear the House today. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/31/sex-selection-abortion-ok-makes-obama-the-abortion-president/

Americans Who Weren t Aborted Increasingly Oppose Abortionn
An undeniable tectonic shift toward the pro-life position has been evident for some time in this country.
