Inviting Obama to Dinner

Just when you might have thought that the Religious Liberty movement was picking up steam there is this headline

Obama lauds HHS mandate, says religious liberty concerns have been addressed

Evidently, President Obama stated in Denver that everything is Al-right! He has taken care of the Catholic hospitals and Universities. HMMMM!

I was unaware that Catholic hospitals, many of which think that the Ethical Directives for Catholic Health Care is just a suggestion sheet, and Catholic Universities, which routinely invite speakers who attack the Catholic Church from without and within, hold moral authority for the Magisterium, as well as the USCCB.

I guess it is ok, though. Afterall, we are a mere weeks away from the photo op of the Election season: President Obama and Cardinal Dolan heartily shaking hands at the Al Smith Dinner. And if you don’t think that is going to happen, just think of the natural, affable and jovial Cardinal Dolan. He can’t help himself. And that picture will be up on every news site and news paper and many will think that the argument is over.

Many forget that Al Smith was a Democrat. He was a very popular Governor of New York. But I doubt that he would support President Obama. Heck, even President Clinton’s support is only half hearted.

There are a number of writers penning entreaties for the Archdiocese of New York to disinvite President Obama. It is not without precedent. Except, this is the first time that, in addition to being ravenously pro-abortion, the Archdiocese is suing the President over the HHS Mandate.

There is a petition probably one of several, that is asking for the Archdiocese to consider this request. It may be one of the only ways to send the truthful message out.

St Gianna, pray for us!

St Anne, pray for us!
