Security Guard Shot at Pro-Life Group s DC Headquarters
A security guard was shot this morning at the headquarters of the pro-life group Family Research Council, and the shooter has been apprehended while police officials investigate the act of violence.
According to information provided to LifeNews, a man posing as an intern shot the guard at the FRC office located at 801 G Street, NW. FRC staffer Anna Maria Hoffman added more information on Twitter, Our security guard Leo [Johnson] got shot in the arm. Please keep him in your prayers.

Shock: Writer Wishes Her Mother Had Had an Abortion
English writer Lynn Beisner is drawing gasps from readers across the world today over a column she wrote in the London Guardian saying she wishes her mother had had an abortion, because it would have supposedly made her mother s life better.
Titled, I wish my mother had aborted me, Beisner writes: This is no I wish I d never been born howl of angst. I love my mother, and having an abortion would have given her a better life. There is no way my love-starved, trauma-addled mother was in a position to raise a child. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/shock-writer-wishes-her-mother-had-had-an-abortion/
Catholics for Obama Back to Hide President s Abortion Record
During the 2008 presidential election, a Catholics for Obama effort led by Pepperdine law professor Douglas Kmiec apologized for then candidate Barack Obama s pro-abortion record. Now, a new group of Catholics professors are leading a new effort to get the pro-abortion activist re-elected.
Kmiec, the former Malta ambassador who resigned from his position after he was found to be derelict in his duties, will not be leading the charge. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/catholics-for-obama-back-to-hide-presidents-abortion-record/
White House Takes Five Hours to Comment on FRC Shooting
The White House is coming under criticism from pro-life advocates for not issuing a condemnation of the shooting of a security guard at the offices of the Family Research Council, a pro-life group.
UPDATE: Not until after 6:30 p.m. ET did the White House respond. Obama finally commented, saying this type of violence has no place in our society.
Romney commented on the shooting, saying: I am appalled by the shooting today at the offices of the Family Research Council in our nation s capital. There is no place for such violence in our society. My prayers go out to the wounded security guard and his family, as well as all the people at the Family Research Council whose sense of security has been shattered by today s horrific events. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/white-house-has-no-comment-on-frc-shooting-cnn-late-to-report/
Planned Parenthood to Promote Obama, Abortion in Bus Tour
While the pro-life women s group Susan B. Anthony List conducts its own bus tour, the abortion company Planned Parenthood will head out on the road as well in a bus tour covering 11 states. The tour will promote abortion and pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced that it will be hitting the road later this month, crisscrossing the country on a bus tour to make sure voters know what s at stake for women s health in November. The Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which does more abortions than any other abortion business in the nation. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/planned-parenthood-to-promote-obama-abortion-in-bus-tour/
Catholics Have Clear Choice in Pro-Life Ryan, Pro-Abortion Biden
With the choice of Paul Ryan as Romney s running-mate, the 2012 presidential election will be the first in U.S. history with a Roman Catholic on both sides of the ballot. The contrast between the Catholicism of Vice President Biden and Congressman Ryan perfectly represents the ongoing debate about the Catholic vote going back to the Reagan years.
Indeed, the choice between these two types of Catholic politicians could not be any more plain. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/catholics-have-clear-choice-in-pro-life-ryan-pro-abortion-biden/

Medalist Reese Hoffa Used Olympics Platform to Promote Adoption
I am an Olympic blubberer. Whenever I read the news stories or watch the competitions I need a box of tissues nearby. The drama of the competition, the heartbreaking falls, the soaring successes and the inspiring narratives all reduce me to tears. The 2012 Summer Olympics tugged at my heartstrings with so many stories, but none more so than the bronze medal winner in the shot put, Reese Hoffa. When the reporters put the microphones in his face seeking a comment after the medal ceremony, he took advantage of the platform to extol the virtues of adoption.
Hoffa s life story has been told many times. He was placed in an orphanage when he was four years old. His mother was barely sixteen when she gave birth to him, her second child. She tried to raise the two children but had no money and no family support, so she did what she thought was best for her children and gave them up for adoption. When speaking of his biological mother, Reese says, I have to say thank you very much For her to make a decision to give the best life I could possibly have, I m sure that took incredible courage on her part. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/medalist-reese-hoffa-used-olympics-platform-to-promote-adoption/

Hope Remains Obama s HHS Mandate Will be Overturned in Court
August 1 was a sad day for American freedom of conscience as the Obama administration rolled out its HHS mandate forcing employers to provide insurance coverage of abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of an employer s beliefs and principles. Still, with dozens of cases in federal courts challenging this mandate, there is still hope that it will be rejected by the courts under either the First Amendment or the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/hope-remains-obamas-hhs-mandate-will-be-overturned-in-court/
