Obama Meets With Abortion Biz Officials at Campaign Event
President Barack Obama met with officials from Planned Parenthood, the nation s biggest abortion business, immediately after exiting Air Force One today at a campaign stop in Florida.

The meeting comes one day after the new HHS Mandate went into effect that has drawn strenuous opposition from pro-life and religious groups for making employers pay for or refer women for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/obama-meets-with-abortion-biz-officials-at-campaign-event/

Senator Tries to Attach D.C. Abortion Ban to Senate Bill
Following the House vote that saw a majority of members back the D.C. 20-week abortion ban (but Democrats preventing a two-thirds vote), a pro-life senator hopes to get the bill attached to a Senate bill.

House Democrats objected to a bill that would stop the policy of unlimited abortions for any reason throughout the entirety of pregnancy in the nation s capital. The bill to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy in D.C. needed a two-thirds vote but enough Democrats voted against the measure to prevent it from going to the Senate.

Pro-Lifers Arrested Protesting HHS Mandate at White House
Dozens of pro-life advocates gathered yesterday in front of the White House to protest the HHS mandate, which will force people of faith and conscience to violate their deeply held values and convictions by funding abortion drugs.

Reverend Pat Mahoney, Kathleen Burke and Joan Andrews Bell were among those arrested and Rev. Mahoney shared on his Facebook page: http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/pro-lifers-arrested-protesting-hhs-mandate-at-white-house/

Abortion Death Another Casualty of the War on Women
Pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood would like you to think they are fighting for women by opposing draconian measures promoted by republicans against women s health. In actuality, the cause for which they go to war is not women s health, but the expanse of abortion, and unfortunately women themselves are often the casualties in that war.

On July 20th, 2012, Tonya Reaves family joined a growing number of people grieving over the loss of a beloved daughter, mother, or sister to a failed abortion procedure. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/abortion-death-another-casualty-of-the-war-on-women/

Planned Parenthood Fires Disabled Staffer, Must Pay Damages
A Washington state Planned Parenthood abortion business has been ordered to pay damages to a disabled former staff that it fired because her disability. Planned Parenthood of Central Washington has been ordered to pay Shannon Sharp more than $106,000 in damages after terminating her employment.

The Tri-City Herald newspaper reports Benton County Superior Court required the abortion business to pay Sharp $86,000 for back wages and $20,000 for emotional distress. Also, Karl Eastlund, the organization s CEO, was ordered to pay Sharp $30,000 as well for the emotional distress he caused her. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/planned-parenthood-fires-disabled-staffer-must-pay-damages/

Too Many Still Don t Know Planned Parenthood s an Abortion Biz
Startlingly, nearly 60% of young adults don t know that Planned Parenthood commits abortion.

The fact is Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America, committing about 330,000 abortions a year, according to their own reports. The actual totals could be far higher especially since they do not report abortions caused by the 1.4 million abortion pills they dispense each year. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/too-many-still-dont-know-planned-parenthoods-an-abortion-biz/

Woman With Cancer Refuses Abortion, Now Mom and Baby Doing Fine
How about some good news for a change? In the UK, a woman named Lyndsey Crowder was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant. She decided to risk risk her own life to bring her baby into the world. Four years later, both are doing fine. From the Daily Mail story:

Lawmakers Still Concerned About Abortion in Disability Treaty
Last week, LifeNews blogger Bill Saunders highlighted the abortion concerns in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities treaty under consideration in the Senate. Those concerns remain and have been brought up in a new letter from pro-life House lawmakers. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/lawmakers-still-concerned-about-abortion-in-disability-treaty/

Book: UN Treaties Result in Pressuring Nations to Change Laws
The US Senate may vote this week on ratification of the latest UN human rights treaty, this one on people with disabilities. Does it really matter whether the US ratifies such treaties? A new book published by a long-time Washington DC scholar says it matters a great deal. John Fonte of the Hudson Institute argues that each treaty saps the very lifeblood of democratic nations by arming a legion of advocates who would replace popular sovereignty with global governance. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/book-un-treaties-result-in-pressuring-nations-to-change-laws/

Republican Leaders Deserve Credit for Abortion Ban Strategy
As my colleague Chuck Donovan mentioned, the D.C. Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act received strong support in the U.S House of Representatives. Seventeen Democrats supported 203 Republicans in voting in favor of the bill. However, even though the bill received majority support, it failed to garner the two-thirds vote necessary to pass under suspension of the rules. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/republican-leaders-deserve-credit-for-abortion-ban-strategy/

Attorneys for a chain of three Michigan late-term abortion clinics are claiming their client cannot afford to pay $350,000 in attorney fees to lawyers who successfully defended Gregg Cunningham and the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform in Northland s frivolous lawsuit against them. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/02/abortion-biz-cant-pay-attorney-fees-for-pro-lifer-it-wrongly-sued/
