Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues
Dear Friends for Life,
What dangers result from the media?

Many people, especially children, think that whatever they see in the media is real. If in the name of entertainment violence is glorified, anti-social behavior is approved of, and human sexuality is trivialized, this is a sin both of those in the media who are responsible and also of those supervisory authorities that ought to put a stop to it.

People who work in the media should always be aware of the fact that their productions have an educational effect. Young people must constantly examine themselves to determine whether they are able to use the media freely, with critical distance, or whether they have become addicted to particular media. Every person is responsible for his soul. Those who consume violence, hatred, and pornography in the media become spiritually deadened and do themselves harm.

(The Difference is LIFE) "In a world where there is so much wealth, so many resources to feed everyone, it is unfathomable that there are so many hungry children, that there are so many children without an education, so many poor persons. Poverty today is a cry. We all have to ask ourselves if we can become a little poorer, all of us have to do this. How can I become a little poorer in order to be more like Jesus, who was the poor Teacher? . . . Be servants of communion and of the culture of encounter! I would like you to be almost obsessed about this. Be so without being presumptuous, imposing "our truths," but rather be guided by the humble, yet joyful, certainty of those who have been found, touched, and transformed by the Truth who is Christ, ever to be proclaimed " - Pope Francis.

(Abortion): "8 Outrageous Things Planned Parenthood Was Caught Doing"You won't believe the shocking things Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers have been caught doing.

 ****************************************

ITEM #1: The Marketing of Aborted Baby Parts (21-page investigation)

In April of 1997, Life Dynamics began an undercover investigation into the marketing of body parts harvested from babies killed by elective abortions. This investigation lasted approximately 31 months. Most of the information in this report was provided by employees who worked at Comprehensive Health for Women (Comp Health) - a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic located in Overland Park, Kansas.

ITEM #2:
Sex-selection abortions cause of missing girls in India

Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organisations Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said that Planned Parenthood's head of research Steven Polgar was the biologists who found a method for sex-determination in utero. Promotion of sex-selection abortions as a population control strategy, crafted in the US and then exported worldwide, has resulted in millions of missing girls in India, China and elsewhere, a Congressional human rights panel has been told.

ITEM #3: Most doctors oppose physician-assisted suicide, poll finds

Whether doctors should help patients die continues to be a hotly debated topic within the medical community, a New England Journal of Medicinepoll finds. The journal questioned readers about a hypothetical near-death case and received more than 2,000 valid responses. Roughly two-thirds worldwide-including 67 percent of replies from the United States-said they disapprove of physician-assisted suicide.

****************************************

ITEM #4: Canadian Pro-Life Activist Jailed for Seven Months for Protesting Abortion

It appears the judge sentenced her more harshly based on a personal bias against her: "She has indicated no remorse to the court," Bhabha said angrily. "She believes in the rightness of her cause ... (but) abortions are legal. Miss Gibbons does not appreciate that it's a legal right."
****************************************

ITEM #5: When "Rights" Are Wrong: In Opposition to Same-Sex Adoption

How does one think about such "adoptions?" First of all, we have the corresponding phenomena of lesbians deliberately impregnating themselves either by natural means with the assistance of a willing male or by artificial means with the aid of a sperm bank. This arrangement is condoned because a single woman "has a right to a child."
****************************************
ITEM #6: It's time to move on. Australians do not want same-sex marriage
The last thing Australia needs is US-style judicial decision-making on issues of social policy. The federal election and this week's descent into farce means there is now an opportunity to put the debate about changing the definition of marriage behind us and move on.

****************************************

ITEM #7 A marriage for life keeps the doctor away
What can be done to lower risks of diabetes, cancer, heart attack, and stroke, the leading causes of death and disability in the United States? Health professionals are quick to hound Americans about eating right and exercising regularly. Yet perhaps they should also be calling attention to the conclusions of a study by scholars at the University of North Carolina and Princeton that found that the longer men and women stayed married - and married to the same spouse - the lower risks they face of developing these chronic conditions.
****************************************

ITEM #8: The Church's Consistent View on the Culture of Life

Much of what is being seen in society today is simply a rehashing of pagan practices within the Culture of Death. But a person may ask why these sins? One typically does not associate sexual sins with death, nor does one associate pride with death. But the early Church certainly did and still does today. Obviously, abortion and infanticide were practices within the ancient world that were common enough for people to have known about them. The early Church not only knew about theses immoral acts, but also officially condemned them.

ITEM #9: Stem-cell banks reach for the fountain of youth

Forget prestige cars, yachts and private jets. From Tuesday, British business executives, sports stars, celebrities and anyone else with up to $63,000 to spare will be able to freeze a backup of their adult selves for potential use decades later.

****************************************

ITEM #10: Is This the New Face of Sex Tourism?

They fly to a foreign country to find sex. They pay young locals to fulfill their desires during these vacations. They pay for hotel rooms, food, rent, new clothes, and electronics. They are engaging in sex tourism. And they are women.
****************************************
ITEM #11: UN Says 6.6 Million Children Under 5 Died Last Year, Though Death Rates Halved In Some Regions
The top killers are malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea, the report said, taking the lives of about 6,000 children under age 5 daily. A lack of nutrition contributes to almost half of these deaths, the U.N. said.
****************************************
ITEM #12: A Response to "Pro-Life Groups Don't Really Protect the Unborn"
A college pro-abortion activist made the egregious claim that pro-lifers only care about power and money, not the unborn. Three words this student should add to her vocabulary: Crisis. Pregnancy. Centers.
