From 40 Days For Life: DAY 8: Outlawing prayer

Does praying in front of an abortion business really make a difference?
In spite of abortion appointment no-show rates that go as high as 75 percent, 178 converted abortion workers, and nearly 100 closed abortion facilities, sometimes doubt creeps in.
But there's one group that NEVER doubts whether peaceful prayer in front of abortion facilities works: the abortion industry itself.
That's why the industry's powerful political allies around the world have attempted to ban peaceful, public prayer vigils. 40 Days for Life Board Chair and General Counsel, Matt Britton, recently went to Canada to encourage volunteers who have been targeted by pro-abortion politicians.

In Alberta, a new law prohibits 40 Days for Life volunteers in Calgary and Edmonton from witnessing within 50 meters of abortion facilities.
While the buffer zone is an obstacle, Matt said that the faithful prayer warriors in Alberta refuse to give up because they know their prayers transcend buffer zones and save lives.
After visiting Calgary and Edmonton, Matt drove through a snowstorm in the Rocky Mountains to encourage 40 Days for Life volunteers in Prince George, British Columbia.

An eight-hour drive from the U.S. border, Prince George is one of the most remote 40 Days for Life campaigns in North America. But that didn't stop about 75 pro-lifers from attending the local kickoff event.

Pforzheim, Germany

The Pro Familia abortion facility in Pforzheim sued the city for an injunction to try to ban vigil participants from coming within 100 meters of its office. Fortunately, the abortion business withdrew its suit upon realizing that the court would likely reject the buffer zone as illegal!

Frankfurt, Germany

The Frankfurt City Parliament recently decided to ban 40 Days for Life prayer vigils from coming within 150 meters of the local Pro Familia abortion facility.
However, the city's administrator refused to enforce the prohibition, stating the buffer zone is illegal!
Pray that pro-lifers' right to practice their faith in public will be respected in Germany, Canada, and throughout the world!

Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So, too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
—Luke 10:30-34
Father, we are moved by the lesson of the Good Samaritan, who allowed compassion to influence him more than fear. Give us the same heart. Grant that we may never count the cost of standing up and speaking out for the unborn.
