Pro-Abortion "Illinois FOCA" Passes 5-2 in Committee

Good afternoon,

This morning in Springfield, the Illinois House of Representatives Human Services Committee passed HB6205 on a vote of 5 to 2. HB6205, the "Reproductive Health and Access Act" (RHAA), would make abortion a "fundamental right" in the state, require taxpayer funding of Medicaid abortions and is similar to the federal Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) tabled in 2009.

Since you're familiar with the Pro-Life Action League, I wanted to pass on a statement from Eric Scheidler, executive director of the League, who is a leading voice in the battle against this legislation.

"The pro-life movement in Illinois united to defeat the RHAA last year, and we're ready to do it again this year. HB6205 would be a massive expansion of abortion in our state, and the people of Illinois won't stand for it. We are ready to fight this bill, and we will defeat it."

Thanks,

Stephanie
