| Planned Parenthood lurks behind Millennium Development Goals
 The Millennium Development Goals Summit - billed as a UN meeting to review progress in eradicating poverty, hunger and disease -- opened at United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York on Monday. But lurking behind those noble-sounding goals is the sinister International Planned Parenthood Federation, which, in cooperation with UN agencies such as the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) continues to assert a separate goal for "promoting sexual and reproductive health." Because that goal was rejected when the original MDGs were adopted, abortion proponents are claiming a "target" under the maternal mortality reduction goal for promoting sexual and reproductive rights. That would explain why unnamed "advocates for women's health" tried to delay the release of a peer reviewed research report that appeared in April 2010 in the Lancet that reported a sharp decline in maternal deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth, from 526,300 in 1980 to 342,900 in 2008. According to the New York Times, the abortion advocates tried to pressure the Lancet into delaying publication of the new findings until after certain UN meetings, "where advocates hope to win support for more foreign aid for maternal health from Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton." As we reported on August 25, 2010, Secretary of State Clinton exceeded Planned Parenthood's wildest expectations when she announced a program that would spend 63 billion U. S. dollars through USAID over a six year period for a "girl and woman centered" initiative. Again quoting the Planned Parenthood Strategic Plan 2010-2015: "By using the language of 'universal access' as one of the overarching strategic areas, IPPF/WHR places itself firmly within the global agenda first laid out at the [United Nations] International Conference on Population and Development and later reaffirmed with a target in the Millennium Development Goals (emphasis added). IPPF/WHR uses this as leverage to hold governments in the region accountable for their international commitments to achieving universal access to SHR (sexual health rights)..." Jumping on the "reproductive and sexual health rights" wagon to supposedly prevent maternal mortality due to childbirth is Planned Parenthood's cohort Amnesty International. The New York Times reports on the placement of a "maternal death clock" in Times Square by Amnesty International to coincide with the U.N. Summit. "The digital billboard clock, set up by Amnesty International, will tick for three days while world leaders at the United Nations renew their commitments to fulfill the most basic needs of people around the world: food, water, basic health care and sanitation," reports AOL News. The New York times reports that the clock ticks every 90 seconds, to mark each moment "a woman dies in childbirth somewhere in the world. That is nearly 1,000 women a day." The Millennium Development Goals are being supported by many who may not be aware of Planned Parenthood's plan to use them to advance its deadly agenda worldwide. | Action Alert: National 2-1-1 bill could fund Planned Parenthood referrals
American Life League president Judie Brown on Monday sent out a nationwide alert advising pro-life advocates to contact members of the Energy and Commerce Committee immediately to ward off a national 2-1-1 service that could provide referrals to unsuspecting pregnant women to Planned Parenthood. The bill authorizes a whopping $700 million dollars over 6 years to implement the program. The 2-1-1 number would facilitate and coordinate referrals to community organizations, including Planned Parenthood. Thus, a woman could call saying, "I'm pregnant and don't know what to do," and be referred to Planned Parenthood. Please call the Energy and Commerce Committee at 202-225-2927 and voice your objections to HB 211.

| Pro-Life Memorial Day just around the corner
Each year, American Life League sponsors Pro-Life Memorial Day, to coincide with the opening of the new term of the U.S. Supreme Court on the first Monday of October. It is a time set aside to remember the 52 million babies that have been killed in the abortion mills of our nation following the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision that decriminalized abortion. On October 4, thousands of Americans nationwide will be gathering for candlelight prayer vigils at the US Supreme Court and at Planned Parenthood and other abortion centers throughout the nation. ALL vice president Jim Sedlak makes a special guest appearance on Johnette Benkovic's Women of Grace on EWTN October 4, 5 and 8. The show airs at 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time. | Austin Diocese withdraws invitation to Planned Parenthood board member
Parishioners at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, were up in arms when they found out that Planned Parenthood board member Rabbi Alan Freedman was scheduled to celebrate Yom Kippur services in the Catholic Church. The Jewish congregation had been invited to celebrate its high holy days at the Catholic parish because it did not have a facility large enough to accommodate special occasions. LifeSiteNews, the internet news agency that broke the story, said that it had received communications from a spokesman for Austin Bishop Joe Vasquez, saying that the bishop was not made aware of Rabbi Freedman's affiliation with Planned Parenthood prior to approving the use of the Church for the services. After the news story broke and the bishop became aware of Freedman's affiliation with Planned Parenthood, the invitation was rescinded. Thanks be to God for Bishop Vasquez's resolution of this matter. We ask all of our supporters to continue to pray for him.
| Colorado Planned Parenthood closes
In keeping with its trend of refocusing resources on more profitable business areas, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains has announced that it will close its Trinidad facility at the end of this month. Planned Parenthood has operated a facility in Trinidad since 1968. The facility kept only part time hours and lacked the cash stream created by a surgical/medical abortion business that, according to former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, the organization is working toward. "This was certainly a strategic business decision, and (it) will allow us to invest more resources into our other health centers," said PPRM media relations specialist, Monica McCafferty, in a Trinidad Times story. She cited Colorado Springs and Glenwood Springs as examples of locations that will benefit from the closure of the Trinidad facility. Planned Parenthood commits abortions in both Colorado Springs and Glenwood Springs. With the closing of the Trinidad facility, the nearest PP center is now almost 90 miles away, in Pueblo. Praise God that Planned Parenthood is leaving Trinidad! May the remaining 22 Colorado Planned Parenthood facilities collapse like falling dominoes until Colorado is PP-free!
