Sex Trafficking Victim Escapes, Was Forced to Undergo Abortion
Shocking new statistics have been produced in England after a pro-life organization won its bid to make some abortion numbers public that the government had failed to disclose concerning abortions on disabled babies.

The numbers reveal, thousands of babies victimized by abortion merely because they were mentally or physically disabled including 500 abortions done on unborn children who have Down syndrome. In total, 2,290 abortions were done on disabled babies with 147 done after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

The London Daily Mail indicates the statistics for England and Wales came after the Department of Health followed a Freedom of Information Request from the Pro Life Alliance, which won a 5-year battle to make the figures public and the figures are the first in over 10 years. The ways in which disabled babies are targeted by abortion makes it clear why the government was reluctant to make them available.

Julia Millington, spokeswoman for the ProLife Alliance, told the newspaper, This is a great victory for transparency and freedom of speech and we are delighted that full information about the justification for late abortions is now being made available in the same detail as it was in 2001.

The abortion numbers showed 482 babies aborted who had Down syndrome, including 10 aborted after 24 weeks; 123 babies who died in abortions with the nervous disorder spina bifida; abortions were done on 181 babies who had a club foot or other musculoskeletal problems, including 8 killed after 24 weeks of pregnancy. Seven babies who had cleft palates were victims of abortion.

The ProLife Alliance is opposed to all abortion at any stage in pregnancy, but terminating the lives of babies at gestational ages when they could survive is always particularly horrifying, Millington told the newspaper. We have always argued that if these abortions are permitted under law, there should be no attempt whatsoever to hide details of the numbers or justifications. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/sex-trafficking-victim-escapes-was-forced-to-undergo-abortion/

Planned Parenthood Officially Loses $335K Grant in Tennessee
The de-funding of the Planned Parenthood abortion business in Nashville, Tennessee became official on Friday as the state shifted the funds to the city s health department.

As North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas and Wisconsin became the nucleolus of states to de-fund or cut Planned Parenthood funding, Tennessee joined them as Nashville s public health department agreed earlier this month to accept all available family planning funds and to provide the required services to targeted populations. As a result, 94 of 95 Tennessee counties now accept all available Title X funds from the state Department of Health and provide the required birth control services themselves rather than forcing taxpayers to fund the nation s biggest abortion business.

In Nashviile, the Davidson County health department took over the $335,000 federal grant that used to go to Planned Parenthood for family planning. On Friday, the funds were officially diverted.

Jeff Teague, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee, tried to put a good face on the news in an interview with the Tennessean.

One of the things that s been really interesting about this whole experience is that it has been a wonderful opportunity to educate, Teague said. In a real weird, perverse way, it s helped people learn more about what Planned Parenthood does. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/planned-parenthood-officially-loses-335k-grant-in-tennessee/

Planned Parenthood Has Lost $200K in Kansas Tax-Funding
The Planned Parenthood abortion business is suing the state of Kansas over the passage of a new law that re-directs taxpayer funding from it to local health departments. But that hasn t stopped the state from sending most of its funding elsewhere.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has already shifted $204,000 in taxpayer funding previously meant for the abortion business to the Sedgwick County health department to expand its family planning services without doing abortions. New records the Associated Press obtained indicated that the funds were sent to the health department three days after Planned Parenthood filed its lawsuit over a law pro-life Gov. Sam Brownback signed to revoke its taxpayer funding.

Neither James Armstrong, a Wichita attorney representing the governor and the state s secretary of health and environment in the lawsuit, nor attorneys for Planned Parenthood responded to a request from AP to comment. The state also indicates a non-abortion health clinic in Ellis County has agreed to accept some of the $331,000 in federal funds the state doles out for family planning that Planned Parenthood normally receives.

Meanwhile, the papers the state filed with the federal court where Planned Parenthood sue make it clear that Planned Parenthood has not given a sufficient reason for why it deserves the funding. They say Planned Parenthood has made no showing, nor could it, that family planning services will not be provided. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/planned-parenthood-has-lost-200k-in-kansas-tax-funding/

Ginsburg s Non-Retirement a 2012 Pro-Life Election Opportunity
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the five members who constitute the pro-abortion majority on the nation s highest court, insists she will not retire anytime soon. Her decision could set up a 2012 election opportunity for the pro-life movement.

The 78-year-old former ACLU attorney is the oldest member of the court, which paved the way for 53 million abortions following the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Despite battling advancing age and numerous health issues, an AP report indicates Ginsburg has said she has no plans to retire from the court until at least 2015, when she will turn 82. That s the age at which Justice Louis Brandeis, like Ginsburg a Jewish justice, retired.

Meanwhile, despite undergoing surgery two years ago for pancreatic cancer, Ginsburg shows no signs of reducing her caseload or leaving the court. She also told AP she wants to stay on the high court until she receives back a painting by the German emigre Josef Albers that normally hangs in her office but is currently on a nationwide traveling art exhibition.

Ginsburg has also said she wanted to stay on the high court until more women were appointed to it, and Obama has added pro-abortion Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, whom Ginsburg likely wants to mentor and work with before she retires. And the recent death of Ginsburg s husband makes it so some suggest she likely wants to remain involved with the Supreme Court instead of retreating into solitary private life.

The decision to not retire anytime soon complicates the presidential election as abortion advocates need Ginsburg to remain on the court to keep legalized abortion on demand throughout pregnancy in place. Should President Barack Obama win the 2012 election, there is a virtual guarantee she will retire during his second term paving the way for another justice committed to keeping unlimited abortions for any reason legal. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/ginsburgs-non-retirement-a-2012-pro-life-election-opportunity/

Lawmakers Want Probe of Kagan s Role in Pro-Abortion Obamacare
Nearly 50 members of the U.S. House have written a letter to the lawmaker who heads up the House Judiciary Committee asking for a hearing into the role pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Elana Kagan played during her time in the Obama administration formulating Obamacare.

Kagan is now in a position as a Supreme Court justice to decide whether the legislation that allows abortion funding and presents rationing concerns is constitutional. But there is considerable evidence that she was involved in formulating Obamacare and pressing for its passage and some Republicans have called on her to recuse herself when the various lawsuits filed against it reach the high court.

Rep. John Fleming, a pro-life Louisiana Republican, is leading the effort to lobby House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith, a pro-life Texas Republican who is the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and pro-abortion Democratic Ranking Member John Conyers of Michigan to hold hearings. The letter, to which 49 members affixed their signature, cites the documents CNSNews.com obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request in May 2010 as part of the evidence for the investigation. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/lawmakers-want-probe-of-kagans-role-in-pro-abortion-obamacare/

Web Site Chronicles Violence by Abortion Supporters, Practitioners
Human Life International has revised and updated its ProChoiceViolence.com web site that chronicles violent, illegal and harassing actions by abortion practitioners and abortion supporters.

HLI staffer Dr. Brian Clowes, director of research for the pro-life group and the lead researcher for HLI s Pro-Choice Violence project, says the web site provides extensive research on the surprising amount of violence perpetrated by abortion practitioners and the proponents of choice, compared to the relatively few violent crimes committed by pro-life advocates.

If people truly understood how backwards the media narrative is regarding the supposed intolerance and violence of pro-lifers, compared to that of pro-choicers, we would be having a very different conversation about abortion in our nation today, he explained. Pro-lifers should learn the truth about how peaceful their movement really is, although most know by experience; and by comparison, how many crimes are committed by abortionists and those who defend their ability to destroy innocent human life.

Clowes hopes the web site changes the national narrative and the stereotype of pro-life advocates as the people who engage in abortion-related violence.

The point of this project is not to demonize any person who defends the false right to choose abortion, it is to set the story straight, Clowes added. Countless television shows hold up an archetype of the loud, abusive, or even violent pro-lifer attacking the well-intentioned, heroic abortionist who is supposedly just trying to help women. News reports dwell on the real and sometimes fabricated crimes against abortionists, and routinely refuse to cover real crimes committed by those who either perform abortions or use violence to intimidate pro-lifers. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/web-site-chronicles-violence-by-abortion-supporters-practitioners/

Campaign Lobbies China for Forced Abortion Opponent Chen Guangcheng
A new campaign is placing emphasis on lobbying the Chinese embassy in Washington on behalf of Chen Guangcheng, a blind attorney who was jailed for years for his part in exposing a brutal campaign of forced abortions.

As LifeNews.com reported, and as the Jubilee Campaign cites in their call for help lobbying the Chinese embassy, Chen remains under house arrest despite his release from prison. He has been beaten by plainclothes policemen and he and his wife and family face strict monitoring, loss of rights and freedom, a lack of medical attention, and they are given very little contact with anyone on the outside. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/campaign-lobbies-china-for-forced-abortion-opponent-chen-guangcheng/

Pro-Life Groups Should Use Social Media to Stop Abortions
With technology playing a more significant role in how we communicate, businesses have signed online in order to grow their organizations and spread their message. Instead of flooding households with direct mailings and hard-copy petitions, businesses can now support a cause, raise money, and post their thoughts in 140 characters or less, all with a click of a mouse. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/05/pro-life-groups-should-use-social-media-to-stop-abortions/
