Steamrolled by the Obama administration and Planned Parenthood--citizens have no right to object to mandatory free birth control We, the people, have once again been steamrolled by the Obama administration and Planned Parenthood. Our right to give input on rules promulgated by the government has been set aside and our religious freedoms have been thrown under the bus.
We will be required to pay for other people's contraception through our insurance premiums, and Catholic institutions and employers will be required to provide and participate in insurance programs that include abortifacient birth control.
And it seems to have happened with almost no one noticing.
As Planned Parenthood "applauds the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) decision requiring new insurance plans to fully cover FDA-approved contraceptive methods without co-pays or other out-of-pocket costs," those who oppose paying for abortifacient birth control are left without even a forum to object.
The Obama administration unilaterally set aside the required period for public comments and implemented the requirements as of the date of publication in the Federal Register--August 3, 2011.
The reason given for setting aside statutory provision for public comment? "The Departments have determined that such a delay in implementation of the statutory requirement that women receive vital preventive services without cost-sharing would be contrary to the public interest because it could result in adverse health consequences that may not otherwise have occurred."
Visit our Action Center today to register your complaint with your members of Congress. It is an outrage that people of conscience and religious institutions, such as Catholic hospitals and universities, will be required to participate in the provision of immoral drugs and pay premiums toward insurance policies that cover abortifacient birth control. |
Feds force Kansas to continue funding Planned Parenthood In another move that
The order constitutes a federal bailout for Planned Parenthood's failing centers in Hays and Wichita.
According to Kathy Ostrowski's Kansans for Life blog, The Kansas health department has already made arrangements for alternative Title X service providers in Hays and Wichita and is struggling to understand the order to fund Planned Parenthood. "Planned Parenthood did not have a current state contract with Kansas, and a judge hasn't the authority to create contracts between the state and private business," Ostrowski says.
It is imperative that pro-life advocates throughout the nation continue to fight Planned Parenthood's funding on every level, and continue to defend against activist judges. Visit our Defund Planned Parenthood Action Center today where you will find action alerts, letter builders, and the tools you need to fight Planned Parenthood funding. |
Mayor says government shouldn't make Planned Parenthood decisions "on what's right and what's wrong" If you are concerned about Planned Parenthood's secular humanist immorality, wait until you hear what the Mayor of Redwood City, California, had to say in this recent
Mayor Jeff Ira says that "government should not make moral decisions on what's right and what's wrong."
The statement was made in reference to Planned Parenthood's application to open afacility on El Camino Real. The permit was granted in March, then appealed by neighboring business owners, residents, and pro-life advocates. Whether or not Planned Parenthood is allowed to open the facility currently hangs on whether the abortion giant can talk neighboring businesses into leasing the organization nine additional parking spaces on a long-term basis. So far that's not working out so well, thanks to pro-life activism in the neighborhood.
After making sure everyone understands that his decision is not based on morality or what is right and what is wrong, Mayor Ira said that he will not grant a variance on the parking requirements, because "that's a bad precedent." Regardless of the reasoning behind it, his decision could hamstring the abortion giant. A final decision will be rendered by September 19, the latest date by which Planned Parenthood must disclose whether it has a valid contract on the nine parking spaces.
"I don't think any businesses in their right mind will give them those nine spaces because they know what's going to happen," Belmont pro-life advocate Ross Foti said in aMercury News article. "Protesting and graphic signs ... they don't want that. They'll suffer the consequences."
Congratulations to local pro-life advocates, who have been instrumental in keeping this Planned Parenthood facility from opening. Because they have taken advantage of every avenue open to stop the expansion, Planned Parenthood may very well be foiled in Redwood City.
Because Planned Parenthood is still trying to enforce a contract it says it had with Enterprise for the additional nine spaces, it is important to contact the rental car company and thank them for holding the line against Planned Parenthood pressure. You can contact Enterprise in Redwood City at (650) 261-9308. |
Komen defeating its own mission by giving grants to Planned Parenthood
Last week we shared our
Planned Parenthood does not provide breast cancer care. As far as screening, it is not licensed to do anything beyond Level 1 manual breast examinations--the same exam that can be done by a woman in her home, or in any clinic or physician's office. Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms. It is not licensed to do so.
Add to that the fact that Planned Parenthood's two big moneymakers--abortion and contraceptives--are directly linked to breast cancer by numerous studies conducted from the 1960s through the present. In fact, in 2005, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), part of the UN's World Health Organization, classified hormonal contraceptives as Group 1 carcinogens for breast, cervical, and liver cancers after reviewing the world's literature on estrogen--progestin combination drugs. They are still on that list, despite denial by Planned Parenthood and Komen that there is any connection between oral contraceptives and breast cancer.
It makes no sense whatsoever for Komen to give money to Planned Parenthood. Komen's claim that women in some areas would not be able to receive breast cancer care without giving grants to Planned Parenthood is horribly misleading, at best.
And as you can see by looking at the 2010 list of grantees, those grants include densely populated urban areas, like Planned Parenthood of North Texas (Dallas) and Planned Parenthood of Central and South Jersey. To say that there is no other alternative in such areas for women to receive breast cancer screening and care is absolutely preposterous.
Call your local Komen chapter today and tell its directors to insist that no Komen affiliates give money to Planned Parenthood. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how counterproductive those grants are. |
Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary: Conversion and closure in Sherman, TX
News stories have amassed this week about the closure of the Planned Parenthood facility in Sherman, Texas, and the conversion of the former director of that facility, Ramona Trevino, to pro-life. Trevino spoke at the rally in celebration of the closure. She said she was convicted by the prayers of those outside her facility, becoming very uncomfortable with her role in distributing contraceptives and making abortion referrals.
The efforts of American Life League Associate group Texoma Pro-Life Association at the Sherman facility have focused on
The Dallas Observer blog featured this very interesting picture of STOPP's "Blessed Mother, please stop Planned Parenthood" sign, displayed at the rally, along with a 40 Days for Life banner, and "God Bless Texas"--an excellent summation in one photo of what has happened in Sherman. |
Kudos to Representative Steve Chabot for standing against Planned Parenthood
As you can see in this
Representative Steve Chabot faced the "I stand with Planned Parenthood" crowd at the meeting in Cincinnati and boldly stood against taxpayer funding for the abortion giant.

Victory: Seven Arizona Planned Parenthood facilities stop medical (abortion-pill) abortions
We received word from Kristy Lien that the Yuma, AZ, Planned Parenthood has officially stopped offering medical (abortion-pill) abortions. Kristy says pro-lifers there will continue holding vigils at the facility.
The
Planned Parenthood snivels that it has "just 6 full- and part-time doctors to handle nearly 10,000 abortions each year." May the numbers of those willing to brutally kill innocent preborn children for money continue to decrease and our country regain its moral bearings.
Congratulations to Kristy and all those who continue to work and pray to stop Planned Parenthood in Arizona. |
