As Obama Pushes Abortion and 'Gay' Agenda, L.A.'s Archbishop Hosts Many Speakers Who Undermine Catholic Teachings on Those Issues
ANAHEIM, Feb. 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- "It'll be like a big victory party for pro-Obama Catholics! Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles will make tens of thousands of Catholics hear some of the worst pro-'gays' and dissenters, the kind who told Catholics they could vote for Obama even though he defies the Church by pushing abortion and homosexuality."
So said Kenneth M. Fisher, chairman of Concerned Roman Catholics of America, Inc. (CRCOA), as he announced that on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday 12-6 p.m., his group will picket Cardinal Mahony's Religious Education Congress, the world's largest training event for Catholic schoolteachers.
(The Congress will be at the Anaheim Convention Center, February 26-March 1. The protest will be outside the main entrance of the Center's main exhibit hall. CRCOA will supply picket signs and flyers to picketers on Saturday and/or the other days of the Congress.)
Fisher said, "Many of the presenters aren't objectionable, and Cardinal Mahony does have a few well-known 'token' orthodox Catholic speakers. But he's also hosting speakers with long track records of dissent."
"Cardinal Mahony's pro-'gays,' women-priest advocates, New Agers and anti-Pope rebels will tell Catholic educators what to teach," Fisher warned. "Then the teachers will go home and infect innocent Catholic children with those errors."
Fisher said CRCOA members will hand out flyers that expose speakers who dissent from the Church's doctrines. Here are some of Cdl. Mahony's 180 speakers:
· A non-Catholic, pro-contraception keynote speaker who has said we don't need to ban aborting babies and who has advised U.S. senators and representatives on how to get believers to vote for pro- "gay," pro-abortion Democrats
· A Catholic bishop whom a Democrat governor praised for his "softer" approach to Communion for Catholic politicians who vote to kill preborn babies
· A left-wing activist female minister from a pro- abortion, pro-homosexual church
· A Catholic priest who told the 2004 REC that "we need public models of healthy gay priests for Catholics to reflect on"
"Why is Cardinal Mahony promoting such speakers?" Fisher asked. "Shouldn't a cardinal make sure his speakers are loyal to the Church?"
