"Stop Killing The Dream"
Students Fight to Realize Dr. King's Dream During Black History Month
CHICAGO --- "How can the Dream survive if we murder the children?" asks Dr. Alveda King, Civil Rights Activist and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Starting with this question, Students for Life of Illinois (SFLI), a collegiate pro-life organization, has coordinated the "Stop Killing The DREAM" campaign to educate college campuses on the effects of abortion on the African American community.
"In honor of Black History Month, we want to make sure everyone knows the racist origins and motives of the abortion industry," said John-Paul Deddens, Director of SFLI.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, with the blessing of Dr. Alveda King, students at several Illinois campuses will bring this message to their dorms, dining halls and student unions. Students will be spreading the word on campus in solidarity with pro-life groups from schools including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Loyola University Chicago, Illinois State University, Lewis University, Bradley University and the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Dr. Alveda King expressed her support saying, "Students for Life of Illinois, you're doing a good job. Activate the whole community, the whole nation. Get that message out there every way you can."
Student leaders will utilize www.StopKillingTheDREAM.com (created by SFLI) as a resource to educate themselves and others. The website has several videos and links ranging from Dr. Alveda King's civil rights message to undercover investigations of the racism of Planned Parenthood. Students plan to share the truth about how Dr. King's Dream is being killed by abortion.
