AMERICA/COLOMBIA - First Congress on the Defense of Life: August 1-2

Medellin (Agenzia Fides) – On August 1-2, Medellin will host the first Congress on the Defense of Life, on the state of defenselessness of the human being today,

The event will be organized by the Christian Association for Integral Development (ABC Prodein) and will take place in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Bolivarian University.
The main objective of the Congress is to form people and encourage them to make commitments in terms of evangelization in favor of life and the family. Among the specific objectives are: analyzing and denouncing the culture of death and proclaiming the entire truth and the values of life and the family; present the various positive initiatives that are taking place in favor of the culture of life; promote the annual celebration of the Day for the Unborn; spread awareness about the Eucharistic crusade for an end to abortion; participate in the work of post- abortion healing, led by "Project Hope," a path of spiritual healing for someone who has had an abortion.
The Congress is geared towards health professionals, priests, and religious, as well as teachers, pastoral workers, social workers, and all those who defend life.
The themes to be addressed are: life and how to defend it from its beginning until natural death; the family as the primary cell of society; how to promote Christian commitment in favor of the common good.
Among the guest speakers are: Dr. Marlene Gillete, of Human Life International of the United States; el Father Carlos Alberto Monsalve, of the Archdiocese of Medellín; Dr. Elizabeth Busnter, of Project Hope in Chile; Lourdes Delgado, of the Women's Help Centers of Mexico; Dr. Jesus Rueda, of the Culture of Life Foundation of Bogota, along with others.
