“Enemy of the preborn child, of our children, and of Catholics”

American Life League says Catholics who support Planned Parenthood should be excommunicated

The American Life League is calling on U.S. bishops to excommunicate 62 members of Congress – including 14 from California -- who identify themselves as Catholics, but voted against de-funding Planned Parenthood.

In an April 5 news release, ALL announced it had posted a four-minute video on YouTube entitled “Planned Parenthood: Anti-Catholic.” The news release said the video “documents a history of Planned Parenthood anti-Catholicism from founder Margaret Sanger to current day president Cecile Richards.” (A link to the video is provided below.)

“There is no doubt that Planned Parenthood is, by every definition, an enemy of the Catholic faith,” said Michael Hichborn, host of American Life League Report. “Sanger identified the Church as her main opposition, Richards has formally excoriated Catholic bishops for pro-life teachings, and Catholic bishops have excommunicated members of Planned Parenthood in the past.”

“Planned Parenthood is an enemy of the preborn child, of our children, and of Catholics,” said Hichborn. “To support funding of Planned Parenthood is the ultimate hypocrisy that betrays all pretense of being Catholic in favor of the largest private abortion provider in the world.”

“ALL says thousands of basic health care providers exist that do not promote abortion, homosexuality, and sexual acts to children in defiance of family and faith traditions,” said the news release. “Therefore, elected representatives who are Catholic cannot hide behind flimsy separation-of-church-and-state arguments or suggest that funding Planned Parenthood is necessary to serve disadvantaged populations.”

American Life League appealed to Catholics to contact the representatives in question and their local bishops regarding their support for Planned Parenthood. The news release was headlined: "Catholic Congressional Supporters of Planned Parenthood Should be Excommunicated."
