Pro-Life Groups Seek Calls on Planned Parenthood, Obamacare Vote
Leading pro-life organizations are working furiously to generate as many calls and emails as possible to members of the House and Senate ahead of expected votes on Planned Parenthood funding and Obamacare.

The votes are the result of the legislative agreement pro-life Speaker John Boehner forced Democrats to accept in order to resolve the budget impasse that threatened to shut down the federal government. Members of the House and Senate will vote on the governmental funding bill that contains a provision reinstating the ban on taxpayer funding of abortions in the District of Columbia. They will also vote on two enrolling resolutions that revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business and cutting off funding for Obamacare, which presents abortion and rationing concerns.

The National Right to Life Committee sent members of Congress a letter urging supportive votes on both resolutions, saying they would do much to diminish threats to innocent human life.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the nation s largest abortion provider, reporting 332,278 abortions in 2009, the letter said. It appears that abortion accounts for roughly one-third of the aggregate income generated by PPFA-affiliated clinics. According to press reports, PPFA has recently mandated that all of its regional affiliates must provide abortions by the end of 2013. Recent media reports regarding abuses associated with PPFA-affiliated clinics in multiple states provide additional justifications for the resolution.

NRLC officials also said the organization would score votes on de-funding Obamacare because it contains many provisions that violate right-to-life principles including the rationing of health care: Full story at LifeNews.com

Poll: 54 Percent Oppose Giving Planned Parenthood Tax Money
A new poll conducted by the Polling Company and WomanTrend reveals a majority of Americans, 54 percent, oppose giving tax dollars for family planning services to organizations that perform abortions.

The poll also shows the intensity of this position, with 43 percent strongly oppose any federal funds going to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood, while just 20 percent strongly support federal funds going to abortion businesses.

President Obama and congressional Democrats who fought to preserve funding for their political ally, Planned Parenthood, have snubbed the majority of Americans, both pro-life and pro-choice, who don t want their money going to America s largest abortion provider, said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, in response. Planned Parenthood has raked in more than $300 million in profits over the past four years and 54 percent of Americans shouldn t be coerced into contributing to an organization they don t believe in, just by paying their taxes. The arrogance of forcing them to do so is dumbfounding.

Kellyanne Conway, the president of the Polling Company firm said the support for de-funding Planned Parenthood crosses lines on the abortion debate.

Even 26 percent of pro-choice adherents rejected diverting taxpayer dollars for family planning organizations that provide abortions, Conway said. Some Americans may have positive attitudes toward Planned Parenthood, but may also reject the underlying premise that federal funding for family planning organizations should be fungible for abortions.

Breaking down the results further, the poll found 82 percent of those who say they are pro-life responded yes when asked, Do you support or oppose tax dollars for family planning services going to organizations that perform abortions? Another 26 percent of people who say they are pro-choice on abortion agreed. Some 12 percent of pro-life people support funding Planned Parenthood while 70 percent of those pro-choice do. Tapes Show Planned Parenthood Abortion Ctrs Hiding Statutory Rape
A pro-life organization that conducted an undercover investigation in 2002 has released today additional tapes showing staff at hundreds of abortion centers across the country covering up statutory rape.

Life Dynamics released tapes from some of the 813 Planned Parenthood and National Abortion Federation centers it calls across the country. The group placed the calls from Texas, where it is legal to record a phone conversation without the consent of the other party. in the phone calls, an actress portrayed a 13-year-old girl who claimed her 22-year-old boyfriend impregnated her and that she wanted an abortion to keep her parents from finding out.

In all, the actress spoke with staff at 813 PP or NAF clinics in all 50 states. Adult sex with underage children is illegal in every state, and PP and NAF clinics are mandated reporters. Yet an appalling 91% of all clinics contacted expressed a willingness to help cover up the statutory rape.

Until yesterday only a select few of those audiotapes had ever been released to the public.

But due to vast public interest in the topic of underage rape cover-up at abortion mills, particularly PPs, has decided to release them all. The home page for access is ChildPredator.com. Get background info at Understanding the Tapes, and then have at it with audiotapes and transcripts from PP and NAF abortion mills in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Rick Santorum May Announce Exploratory Committee Tonight
Rick Santorum, the pro-life former Pennsylvania senator, may announce tonight in an interview on Fox News that he is setting up an exploratory committee to allow him to more officially consider a GOP presidential bid.

Officials with Santorum s political action committee said viewers of the show hosted by Fox News s Greta Van Susteren should be prepared for a big announcement, which is expected to have to do with the exploratory committee since he has already committed to a May 5 debate in South Carolina that requires participants to have set up such a committee or formally declared a presidential bid.

Should Santorum announce the committee, he would follow four other possible Republican presidential hopefuls, including pro-life businessman Herman Cain, pro-life former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who changed his position from supporting abortion to pro-life in advance of the 2008 presidential election. Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer has also set up such a committee.

Santorum has already made 14 trips to New Hampshire, the number two primary election state in the process and he is expected to head back there again this week and to participate in a presidential debate on June 7 sponsored by WMUR-TV, the New Hampshire Union Leader and CNN. Georgia House Wants No Abortion Funding Under Obamacare Law
The Georgia state House voted this week for an amendment to a bill that would ensure no taxpayer dollars can be used to pay for abortions under the state health care exchanges created under Obamacare.

Georgia lawmakers have not approved creation of a health exchange in the state, but lawmakers approved legislation Tuesday on a 98-63 vote that would have the state join a health care compact and the amendment added to the bill would prevent any abortion funding in the compact.

Now, according to an AP report, the state Senate must approve of the changes the state House made to the Senate-passed bill before it goes to pro-life Gov. Nathan Deal for his signature.

Under the new health care law, states will be in charge of their own health care exchanges that are available for individuals and small businesses. The exchange doesn t go into effect until 2014 and states are filing lawsuits seeking to stop the pro-abortion health care bill in its other pro-abortion provisions entirety, but states are moving now to exercise their right to opt out of some of the abortion funding.

Denise Burke, an attorney with Americans United for Life, has explained the opt out clause contained in the Obamacare bill, which otherwise fails to contain sufficient limits on abortion funding. Full story at LifeNews.com

North Carolina County Drops Abortions From Employee Health Plan
A North Carolina county has voted to drop taxpayer funding of abortions from the health insurance plans all public employees receive from the Davidson County government.

On Tuesday night, the Davidson County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 to approve an amendment to the county health care plan. All of the members of the commission voted for the amendment with the exception of Commissioner Don Truell. The amendment makes it so county residents will no longer be forced to pay for abortions for employees via their tax dollars with very rare exceptions such as in cases when the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother.

Commissioner Fred McClure, who sponsored the amendment, told The Dispatch newspaper about why he did so, and pointed to other countries such as Wake County that has approved a similar amendment.

In essence it eliminates abortions performed as a measure of birth control for any other reason other than rape or incest, McClure said.

The county has averaged paying for one employee s abortion annually at a cost of $500. The newspaper indicated 52 percent, or 413 county workers, were enrolled in the current plan and another 385 people have enrolled in a higher-end plan the county provides.

In December 2010, Wake County officials made their jurisdiction the latest to cut taxpayer funded abortions for government employees a move that is helping spread the new trend nationwide to get government out of the abortion business. Full story at LifeNews.com

Indiana Senate Panel OKs Fetal Pain Abortion Ban Bill
The Indiana state Senate Health Committee voted 6-2 today for a pro-life bill that requires abortion practitioners to tell women considering an abortion that the life of the baby they could otherwise give birth to begin at conception and that scientific evidence reveals the unborn child will likely experience significant pain during the abortion at or before 20 weeks of pregnancy.

The bill bans abortions after that point compared with the current state law allowing abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy, when unborn children are viable.

During committee consideration, lawmakers removed from the bill a requirement that abortion practitioners tell women about the risk of breast cancer, which has been proven to be linked to induced abortions. They also removed language that would have allowed Indiana to opt out of paying for abortions under the Obamacare health care law.

Mike Fichter, the president of Indiana Right to Life, commented on that and said the Indiana Senate must find another vehicle for opt-out or abortion coverage will be included in state health exchanges under new federal law. Full story at LifeNews.com
