Baby Joseph Maraachli Heading Home After Getting Tracheotomy
Baby Joseph Maraachli is heading back home to Canada after his parents received help from an American pro-life group that assisted when a Canadian hospital refused to provide the baby a tracheotomy to help him breathe.
Joseph s parents wanted him to have the medical procedure done in the same way their daughter had one before she passed away. Joseph now can breathe easier as he dies from a rare medical condition that will soon take his life.
Doctors at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children s Medical Center in St. Louis performed the tracheotomy on March 21 and, in a follow-up statement, deemed the procedure medically appropriate after a thorough examination of the 15-month-old boy who a Canadian hospital refused to help.
Today, officials with Priests for Life, the pro-life group that provided the financial and logistical support for bringing Joseph and his family to the United States, informed LifeNews.com Joseph is now headed home.
Our mission to save Baby Joseph and help his family was never based on any prediction of the future, but rather on the value of his life here and now, Priests for Life director Father Frank Pavone said. Our critics, on the other hand, looking into the crystal ball that right to die advocates seem to always think they have, claimed our intervention was futile because Joseph would only end up having a machine do his breathing for him. Wonkette Removes Offensive Post Attacking Trig Palin, Apologizes
Wonkette s Jack Stuef published a vile post celebrating Trig Palin s birthday on Monday that called Trig irredeemably vile and unfunny, disgraceful and gross. After a massive blacklash, the liberal blog removed the post.
The Wonkette post said: What s he dreaming about? Nothing. He s retarded. His mom went to a lot of trouble to leak amniotic fluid over 8 states to make sure that he arrived in this world somewhat alive. Enjoy yourself today, Trig. Have fun! Get drunk (on purpose this time)! We can hardly wait for 15 years from now, when you will finally be able to vote and will be sent off by your mother s junta to fight the Union in the Great Alaska War. It ll be quite a loss. You re the smartest one in that family.
Wonkette editor Ken Layne originally attempted to defend the post but eventually removed Stuef s byline from it and added an apology that was less of an apology and more of a defense of the post as supposed political satire and attempting to paint a picture of Sarah Palin as someone who uses her son as a political prop.
Wonkette noted the removal of the post with the headline, Rude Post Deleted By Editor; Author Apologizes. Full story at LieNews.com
More Companies Pull Ads From Wonkette After Trig Palin Post
More companies have joined Papa Johns, Huggies and Vanguard in dropping ads from the liberal, pro-abortion blog Wonkette after it ran a crass post mocking Sarah Palin and her son Trig, who has Down Syndrome.
The web site ran what was supposedly a satirical piece criticizing Palin for her supposed use of Trig as a political prop during the 2008 presidential election, when Palin, the pro-life former Alaska governor, was the Republican vice-presidential candidate. The Wonkette post called Trig retarded and somewhat alive and claimed Trig was not the child of Todd and Sarah Palin.
The post prompted a conservative backlash on Twitter, with hundreds of people writing to companies that had engaged in advertising on the popular blog site. In addition to the three that quickly dropped their ads, several others have followed suit. Below are the companies and the tweets they sent out announcing their ads will no longer appear on Wonkette. In some cases, it appears the companies contracted with a third-party advertising agency that placed their Internet ads on the blog, along with other websites. Full story at LifeNews.com
Earth Day: Abortion Has Killed 1-2 Billion Worldwide in 50 Years
The media is abuzz with news about humanity s numbers. Sometime during the latter part of this year or early next year the exact date is still a little fuzzy there will be, for the first time in history, 7 billion people alive on the planet at the same time.
Left-wing pundits are already splashing ink all over this subject. National Geographic is taking the entire year to decry this increase in numbers, spinning off countless articles, sleek videos, and photo sets warning of the overpopulation disasters that supposedly await us.
Other organizations are in full panic mode as well. Panelists at an American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting, abandoning scientific objectivity in favor of junk science, railed about the exponential growth of population and its effect on the environment. Within hours of this meeting, the Internet was ablaze with scary headlines. Yahoo News warned us that the Planet Could Be Unrecognizable by 2050. The Teheran Times cried out Can Humanity Survive a Population of Over 10 Billion People? (That Iran, thanks to a nationwide sterilization campaign organized by the ayatollahs, is now having too few children to maintain the current population seems to have escaped the paper s notice.)
At PRI we have a different take on Baby Seven Billion. While the world s population doubled and then doubled again in the past century, more people has meant more prosperity. Human beings are currently wealthier, healthier, and better educated than ever before. The percentage of people trapped in poverty continues to decline. Full story at LifeNews.com
Planned Parenthood Increases Lobbying Defending Tax-Funding
The Planned Parenthood abortion business aggressively upped its lobbying expenditures to barrage Congress with messages supporting its federal taxpayer funding, according to a new report.
Roll Call magazine indicates its federal lobbying more than tripled during the first three months of this year as the abortion business twisted arms while pro-life groups worked overtime to expose practices like covering up for sexual traffickers and misleading lawmakers about it supposedly doing mammograms for women.
The new numbers indicate, for the first quarter of 2011, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America spent $400,000 on lobbying, which was a 260 percent jump from the same quarter last year, when it spent $111,000. The magazine shows most of the money was spent in house on various communications and campaigns, but it paid the lobbying firm Glover Park Group $60,000 for assistance.
Planned Parenthood lobbies Congress on a wide range of legislation regarding women s health, Planned Parenthood Spokesman Tait Sye told Roll Call. The first 100 days of this Congress certainly saw an increase in anti-women s health legislation that does nothing to address the economy or create jobs.
The lobbying report Planned Parenthood submitted shows the organization not only lobbied to keep its own tens of millions of dollars in federal funding under Title X, but it actively opposed various pro-life bills including the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, the Sanctity of Human Life Act, the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act and the Abortion Non-Discrimination Act. Pro-Abortion Gary Johnson to Seek Republican 2012 Nomination
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson announced in New Hampshire today that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for president, making him likely the only pro-abortion candidate in the field.
Johnson s position as a liberal Republican who supports abortion contrasts him with some of the other potential presidential candidates like Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee or Tim Pawlenty and Haley Barbour who take strongly pro-life views and have lengthy pro-life records as governors themselves. Other potential candidates like Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum will all be running as pro-life candidates should they officially enter the race.
When it comes to abortion, Johnson told Slate he believes that abortion should be legal until the viability of the fetus.
Without any appeal to social conservative voters, Johnson focused on his economic record in remarks today before an audience in the Granite State, the second in the Republican primary election process. Full story at LifeNews.com
Planned Parenthood President Makes Time Magazine Top 100 List
She presides over the largest abortion business in the United States that has killed and injured women in abortions and fails to provide legitimate medical services for most pregnant women.
But that didn t stop Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards from making the Time Magazine top 100 list of most influential people.
Richards clocked in at the 69th most influential spot in a list that fluctuated over the last few weeks as voters were able to declare a certain person influential or not. Richards had been at a higher position, but a small campaign on Twitter led by some pro-life advocates like Bryan Kemper of Stand True helped lower her ranking as pro-life people were persuaded to visit the Time web site to declare the abortion mogul not influential.
Nancy Pelosi, the pro-abortion former Speaker of the House who now leads the Democratic Party in the lower congressional chamber, wrote a glowing biography for the Time page devoted to her ranking. Full story at LifeNews.com
Canadian MP Wants to Deny Planned Parenthood Funds, Harper Responds
After a Conservative MP defended the pro-life position, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised to defeat any pro-life legislation limiting abortion that backbencher MPs may introduce in Parliament. A row over abortion today started when comments Conservative MP Brad Trost made at the Saskatchewan Pro-life Association convention came to light where he suggested the federal government has decided to deny funding to the International Planned Parenthood Federation abortion business. After a lengthy debate over funding the abortion giant in the United States, the comments drew an immediate controversy in the Canadian press. Full story at LifeNews.com
