Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Just as fish swim in the water that surrounds them without recognizing that they are in water, so are we "swimming" - perhaps drowning - in a cultural milieu that millions do not realize exists.

The culture in which we live today - the culture we bring our children into - is toxic to morality, to Christianity, and to family values. Planned Parenthood has, for decades, stealthily labored at building networks of deception in the dark shadows to bring us to this point. The abortion giant is now attempting to drive a stake through the heart of the Catholic Church and religious freedom under the darkness of this murky cultural mess it has created-which has recently been referred to "sexualityism."

Read more about Planned Parenthood's deadly sea of "sexualityism" here. http://www.stopp.org/article.php?id=10344

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Life): "Safe Sex - ONLY" -  A Real Crisis to get angry about is the defunding of Abstinence Education by the current administration so that another generation suffers. Even worse, the "Safe Sex - only" Cartels do not want teens to abstain. They want teens to be taught the pleasures of sex. What will happen to teen sexual initiation rates and pregnancy rates when "Safe Sex" is the only message rather than abstinence?

ITEM #1: Canadian Women Use Sex-Selection Abortions at Alarming Rate

A new study released this week by researchers in Canada suggests that women of Indian origin living in Ontario are likely using prenatal screenings to determine the gender of their children and are aborting their female babies out of a preference for males.

****************************************

ITEM #2: Why the Church Is Right About Life and Love

Janet Smith, Jennifer Fulwiler and Emily Stimpson weigh in on natural family planning and Catholic teaching against contraception.

****************************************

ITEM #3: Brazil Faces Criticism for OKing Abortions on Disabled Babies

In an April 12 vote of eight in favor and only two in dissent, the Supreme Federal Tribunal of Brazil made legal the abortion of unborn babies diagnosed during pregnancy with anencephaly, drawing statements of condemnation from Brazil's Catholic bishops and pro-life leaders.

ITEM #4: Brazilian doctors: disabled unborn babies will either be cut to pieces or torn apart with aspirator

A curettage abortion uses a loop-shaped knife to cut the child to pieces, and then scrape his body and placenta from the uterine wall. An aspiration abortion uses powerful suction to tear the child apart, and likewise separate him from his mother.

ITEM #5: What contraception has wrought

Many Americans have been astonished that anyone thinks contraception worth discussing at all. But perhaps the unambiguous good is not so unambiguous after all. Forty-plus years into the sexual revolution, there is plenty of sex, but less enduring love...

****************************************

ITEM #6: Eugenics: the skeleton that rattles loudest in the left's closet

Socialism's one-time interest in eugenics is dismissed as an accident of history. But the truth is far more unpalatable.

****************************************

ITEM #7 Prevent Bullying, Promote Kindness: 20 Things All Schools Can Do

Taken together, these strategies can make schools what they ought to be: ethical learning communities where respect and kindness are the norm — and where every student is able to learn in a safe and supportive environment.

ITEM #8: Can Contraception Raise Family IQ's?

"There are many good reasons why parents might consider limiting their family sizes, but the belief that, for a particular set of parents in a modern country like the United States, a larger family will lead to children with lower IQs appears to be, simply, wrong.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Introduction: Adam and Eve after the pill

"Mary Eberstadt is our premier analyst of American cultural foibles and follies, with a keen eye for oddities that illuminate just how strange the country's moral culture has become." - George Weigel

****************************************

ITEM #10: Bradlee Dean to President Obama Re: Abortion

This morning Bradlee Dean sent a letter to President Obama regarding abortion. In researching this very important issue of protecting life, we found many statistics regarding abortion that all people need to know. Therefore, we have made this letter public. Please read.

ITEM #11: India to offer microloans for people living with HIV

It's hoped that the initiative will allow people living with HIV to create small embroidery or weaving businesses, or even set up grocery stores.

ITEM #12: Dr. Phil Show: "Mercy Kill" People with Disabilities

Comment: I watched this show with great difficulty - I'm not a fan of Dr Phil, nor Oprah. They claim to be Christians, but from what I've heard over the years, its in name only, not the walk, and we know talk is cheap. (I am aware that other faiths do not support euthanasia/assisted suicide) Over 15 years ago, my daughter-in-law's doctor told her to abort the baby she was carrying because they suspected it had Down's. Just four years before that, the doctor told her the same thing. They were wrong the first time, but not the second. Abortion was never a consideration. I thank God for David, who is a joy to love and be loved by. As for these doctor shows, like Dr Oz and Dr Phil, both support euthanasia/assisted suicide. They are dangerous, as they really load up the pro death side, and barely give a sound byte to the sometimes the only one on the show to voice opposition. Regardless of the degree of disability or suffering I will never change my mind about euthanasia and assisted suicide, and thank God for the warriors who are able to stand against it. I can say this in spite of having experienced the worst couple of years of my life, with chronic debilitating pain and fatigue, that has caused me to be nearly bed ridden. Life is not easy, but worth every minute the Lord gives me. -Cheryl, CHN
