Abortion Center Cited for Health Violations Keeps Operating
A Pennsylvania abortion center in Allentown, that state health inspectors found to have multiple health and safety problems that could endanger women s health, continues to operate amid the complaints.
Allentown Medical Services at 2200 Hamilton St. recently received citations concerning using unsterilized instruments on women, having drugs and reproductive devices on hand that were past their expiration date. Abortion clinic inspectors also found blood splattered on the walls and floor of a freezer, according to a report the Pennsylvania Health Department made public, the Morning Call newspaper reports.
The abortion facility operates under the name Allentown Medical Services but it has new owners. It changed hands after embattled abortion business owner Steven Brigham was prohibited from operating in Pennsylvania because of so many botched abortions and violations of health and safety laws for medical clinics. He gave up his Pennsylvania medial licensed because of problems in 1992 but was allowed to operate abortion centers administratively until the state finally clamped down on that practice.
The new information about AMS comes after a ruling by the Commonwealth Court last month that state health officials acted properly when they closed Allentown Medical Services down under Brigham. The newspaper indicates health department records show Rose Health Services Co., of Conshohocken now owns Allentown Medical Services, which failed a health inspection on May 26. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/abortion-center-cited-for-health-violations-keeps-operating/
Abortions at Planned Parenthood: Done in Record Numbers
Here are Planned Parenthood s own numbers. They reflect their activity in the abortion arena. As one can see, they are increasingly invested in performing this gruesome procedure.
Baby Boomers: These are the children who never were born, who will never pay the taxes we ll need to sustain us in our retirement; these and the others totaling 53 million lost citizens.
And we let it happen. We ll do well to remember that during euthanasia s ascendancy. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/abortions-at-planned-parenthood-done-in-record-numbers/
New Jersey: Christie Veto of Planned Parenthood Tax-Funds Upheld
Democrats in the New Jersey legislature were unable to override a veto pro-life Gov. Chris Christie issued to prevent taxpayers in the Garden State from having to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
The bid to override Governor Christie s line-item veto of the $7.453 million appropriation for women s health and family planning services, with much of the money going to the pro-abortion giant, failed in the state house this morning. The votes were roughly split down party lines and Democrats could only muster 24 of the 27 votes needed to override and two Republican state senators chose not to vote: Allen and Bateman.
Greg Quinlan, the Director of Government Affairs for New Jersey Family First which, along with New Jersey Right to Life, called on pro-life advocates to lobby members of the state Senate against the override, commented on today s vote.
The battle is not over, but this bill will likely not come up for consideration and voting again until November, he explained. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/new-jersey-christie-veto-of-planned-parenthood-tax-funds-upheld/
GOP Poll: Bachmann Now Leads Romney in Iowa, Pawlenty Gains
A new poll in Iowa, the site of the first presidential battleground for the Republican nomination, shows pro-life Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann making major gains in her birthplace state.
Bachmann is now shown ahead of Gov. Mitt Romney, who is again campaigning as a pro-life candidate for the GOP nomination and who has led in Iowa and still leads in many other state and national polls. The results of the poll come after Romney played down Iowa and, instead, says he is focusing his efforts on capturing the New Hampshire primary the location of the second primary contest.
The Iowa Republican shows Bachmann leading potential Iowa caucus-goers with 25 percent of the support of Republicans in the Midwestern state while Romney brings in 21 percent.
The poll also has good news for pro-life former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who had been stuck in the mid single digits in the state. He has spent considerable time in Iowa at numerous local events and has seen his support rise in the Hawkeye State to 9 percent, tying him for third with pro-life businessman Herman Cain, who has seen his numbers dip with news stories of him losing staff members.
The poll has pro-life Rep. Ron Paul getting 6 percent of the Republican vote, 4 percent going to pro-life former Speaker Newt Gignrich, pro-life former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum getting 2 percent, and pro-life former Utah Gov. John Huntsman getting one percent. The survey did not include either Sarah Palin, the pro-life former vice-presidential candidate, or pro-life Gov. Rick Perry of Texas both of whom are considering joining the Republican contest. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/gop-poll-bachmann-now-leads-romney-in-iowa-pawlenty-gains/
Planned Parenthood Wisconsin May Cut After Losing Tax-Funding
The Planned Parenthood abortion business in Wisconsin is upset that the state will soon cut off $1 million in taxpayer funding a portion of the grants it gets from state, federal and local governments combined.
As has been the case in Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina and New Hampshire, Wisconsin decided to cut state taxpayer funding and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed into law the state budget legislators approved containing the de-funding. It was part of budget cuts needed to meet a $3 billion state shortfall.
The legislation redirects $1 million in state and federal family planning funds away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. In 2010 Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin received more than $18 million in federal and state family planning funds that it claims has reduced abortions. However, the abortion business did 5,439 abortions in 2009, a 56% increase from 2008. Three of the nine Planned Parenthood centers in the state do abortions and the other six make referrals for abortions.
While the budget makes it so the money goes to non-abortion health clinics that provide the same or better medical services for women, Planned Parenthood is complaining that it will have to cut services or staff and claims women will be hurt. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/planned-parenthood-wisconsin-may-cut-after-losing-tax-funding/
GOP Presidential Candidate McCotter Signs Pro-Life Pledge
Add Congressman Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan to the list of Republican presidential candidates who have signed the pro-life pledge sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony List. He s committed to opposing abortion and abortion funding.
As LifeNews.com reported, the Susan B. Anthony List unveiled the pledge recently and indicated Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul signed it. The pledge has the candidates promising to support only judicial nominees who won t interpret the Constitution in a way that supports Roe v. Wade, select pro-life Cabinet members on positions affecting abortion policy, supporting legislation to stop taxpayer funding of abortions and Planned Parenthood, and to support a fetal pain bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the SBA List president, informed LifeNews today that McCotter signed the pledge as well. He is a little known congressman, but his pro-life commitment could attract him supporters from those who are not happy with the current makeup of the Republican field.
Noting his long history as an advocate for the pro-life movement, Dannenfelser said McCotter s legislative record includes vocal support for the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, and bills to defund Planned Parenthood and prevent taxpayer funding of abortions. We are honored to have his pledge of continued support.
McCotter explained the reason for signing the pledge stating, The culture of death, as enshrined by Roe v. Wade, is a present danger to the weakest in our society. Unless Roe is overturned, the culture of death will continue to fester and endanger Americans. To protect future generations of Americans, we must work in our families and our communities to uphold the sanctity of human life. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/gop-presidential-candidate-mccotter-signs-pro-life-pledge/
Boxer OKs Anti-Human Trafficking Bill, Ignores Planned Parenthood
Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), one of the most notorious abortion advocates in the US Senate, has baffled the nation once again. Boxer has signed on to sponsor a bill cracking down on human trafficking in the United States and abroad. In a statement, Boxer commented: We must send a clear message that human trafficking and the exploitation of children will not be tolerated.
That statement comes from one of the most ardent opponents to the ban on partial-birth abortion. Apparently, Boxer does not consider sticking scissors the back of the neck of child a form of exploitation.
In debating partial-birth abortion, Boxer s extremism on abortion came to the forefront when she asserted on the Senate floor that human life begins when you bring your baby home, when your baby is born.
Boxer introduced the Child Protection Compact Act earlier this year. The provisions of that legislation are contained within this new bill, entitled the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2011. The irony of Boxer taking such a strong stance against human trafficking is her unrelenting support for the abortion industry, which has routinely been caught displaying a willingness to harbor human traffickers and has been complicit in covering up cases of statutory rape. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/07/11/boxer-oks-anti-human-trafficking-bill-ignores-planned-parenthood/
