Serious matters deserve serious attention. But when light is made of the taking of a precious human life, the world should be both shocked and offended. And when a human life is compared to that of an animal, we should stand up and proclaim the sanctity of every person's life. But is this happening in today's world? Or are most people laughing at the jokes and letting the atrocities slide? Read today's commentary for more on what has happened and what we can do.

A group of progressive education organizations in league with the family planning and homosexual lobby have released a new set of sex education "guidelines" that they are pushing on schools nationwide. The document is being touted as "the first-ever national standards for sexuality education in schools," and as an answer to what it calls "the inconsistent implementation of sexuality education nationwide." While the document does not say what organizations were represented at the meeting, the "advisory committee" and list of "additional reviewers" includes two representatives from Planned Parenthood, a representative from Planned Parenthood's former research arm, the Guttmacher Institute, and the director of training and curriculum development for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.

Apart from a return to free market-based economics in DC, it seems one of the most lucrative things a CEO in need of job could do is pursue a position with one of Planned Parenthood's 81 affiliates. After all, CEOs in those positions pulled in an average salary of $158,797 last year. That's a lot of money in today's economy. And it's there for the taking for CEO types whose consciences are not bothered by the fact that killing pre-born children, pushing sex-ed programs that brainwash preteens, and passing out contraceptives like it's candy to kids who can't spell "contraceptive" is all part of an average day on the job.

The two adult stem cell scientists who are attempting to put a halt to US government funding of human embryonic stem cell research filed briefs today in a high-ranking US court that will hear oral arguments in the case in April. Lawyers for James Sherley, a senior scientist at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute, and Theresa Deisher, the chief executive of AVM Biotechnology in Seattle, Washington, submitted this brief to the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, where a three-judge panel is set to hear oral arguments in Sherley et. al. v. Sebelius on 23 April. Sherley and Deisher are appealing a July ruling by a lower court. Then, Chief Judge Royce Lamberth of the US District Court for the District of Columbia decisively rejected arguments that an existing law, the Dickey-Wicker amendment, makes it illegal for the government to fund the human embryonic stem cell research. In September, Sherley and Deisher appealed that ruling to the District of Columbia Circuit, an appeals court that is one level below the US Supreme Court. That appeal set in motion today's filing and the upcoming oral arguments.
