Planned Parenthood annual report shows business in decline, after receiving almost 1/2 billion dollars in government funding

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) just released itsannual report for 2009-2010. Predictably, it reflects a general decline in the abortion giant's business, thanks to unprecedented pro-life activism from the grassroots up, focused directly on Planned Parenthood.

Effective Wednesday, Planned Parenthood of Waco has moved the health center at which it performs abortions from 1927 Columbus Ave. into what used to be the organization's administrative offices at 1121 Ross Ave. Suite A. The decision to move the Family Planning and Surgical Services clinic was the result of a review of cost-saving strategies to ensure that funds are used efficiently, Pam Smallwood, Interim Co-CEO of Planned Parenthood said. Last summer, abortion opponents [ALL Associate group Pro-Life Waco] leased a house next door to the Columbus Avenue clinic, but it's not clear whether that factored into the decision to close the facility.

 


TriCities

A national women's health organization, known for its involvement in abortion rights issues, now has an office in the Tri-Cities region. Planned Parenthood opened its doors in Johnson City this past Monday, and it's a first for the Tri-Cities. The office is inside a women's health center called Shakti in the Mountains on Unaka Avenue.

The Shenendehowa school district has kicked Planned Parenthood out of class. For the last two decades, Planned Parenthood educators have conducted interactive lessons in health education classes in the high school and middle school. A few times a year, they teach students about abstinence, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy prevention as a supplement to their regular coursework. No more. This fall, some parents pushed the school to sever its relationship with Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson. In October, a small group of parents raised objections after they learned some students were allegedly told that abstinence allowed for oral sex and that some high school classes had condom demonstrations.
