CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer: Epiphany

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Winter

"We saw His star at its rising and have
come to do Him homage."

Matthew 2:2

The Mass for the Feast of the Epiphany
Dear John,
The three wise men followed the star and after a long journey found Jesus.  They stand for each one of us in our pilgrim journey on earth.  On their journey they had to deal with the deception, envy, and trickery of King Herod but they persevered.  Their reward was to find the Light.  “Overwhelmed with joy,” the Gospel tells us,  “they saw the Child with Mary His mother; they knelt down and paid Him homage.”  (Matt. 2:11)
They returned home changed, changed because they saw the Christ Child, the Light. May our encounter with Jesus Christ, born of Mary, bring new joy and deep peace to our lives.

O God, who by the shining of a star did guide the wise men to behold Your Son, show us Your heavenly light, and give us grace to follow until we find Him and finding Him, rejoice.  And grant that as they presented gold, frankincense and myrrh, we now may bring Him the offering of a loving heart, an adoring spirit, and an obedient will; for His honor, and for Your glory, O God most high.
Amen.
