Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer: 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
"Andrew first found his brother Simon and told him, 'We have found the Messiah.' Then he brought him to Jesus."
John 1:41-42 January 15, 2012 Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
DearJohn,
The gospel story this Sunday gives us a beautiful image. Andrew meets Jesus, decides to follow Him. But first he goes to his brother Simon Peter and brings him to Jesus. If we really believe in Jesus as the Son of God, the Word of God, the Way, Truth and Life, then like Andrew, we should lead others to Jesus. How do we do this? First by our good example. “By this everyone will know you are my disciples, by your love for one another.” (John 13:35) In this New Year, may we let the Light – the Light of Christ – shine more brightly in our lives – so that others are led to the Light.
Lord, You have called us to be Your witnesses to all the nations. Have mercy on us who have known Your will but failed to do it. Cleanse us from unbelief and sloth and fill us with hope and zeal, that we may do Your will and bear Your cross and see Your glory, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit are one God, world without end. Amen
