France
legalized gay 'marriage' on Tuesday after a wrenching national debate
and protests that flooded the streets of Paris. Legions of officers and
water cannon stood ready near France's National Assembly ahead of the
final vote, bracing for possible violence on an issue that galvanized
the country's faltering conservative movement.

During
the past couple of weeks there has been a concerted effort by
pro-lifers to get the mainstream media to cover the ongoing trial of
notorious late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Mollie Z. Hemingway at
GetReligion has been especially active, tweeting at a number of
reporters and mainstream-media outlets who were not covering the case.
In response, Sarah Kliff who covers abortion policy for the Washington
Post tweeted that she had not written about the Gosnell trial because
she covers policy “not local crime.”

"Green
sex is the concept of sex ‘au natural,’ as God – or nature – intended.
Sex without props, potions or procedures. One man, one woman, no
equipment necessary. It’s cost effective, has a carbon footprint of
essentially zero, and is a basic proven predictor of marital longevity.
In laymen terms: it’s free, cheap and easy. Green sex is also the idea
that contraceptive use – or the deliberate destruction or suppression of
the reproductive functions – is in fact seriously deleterious to the
environment and may indeed be harmful to the human person - physically,
psychologically and relationally."

In
March, the Supreme Court took up two fundamental cases. The first case
addressed the Defense of Marriage Act, which was passed with bi-partisan
support in 1996. The second case involved Proposition 8 in California,
whereby nearly 7 million Californians affirmed marriage as the union
between one man and one woman.

A
recent anti-bullying presentation at a middle school in New York that
focused on homosexuality and gender identity has angered parents after
their daughters have come home to tell them they were forced to ask
another girl for a kiss.

On
Pentecost Sunday 2009, Scott Roeder entered Wichita’s Reformation
Lutheran Church and fired a single round into the forehead of George
Tiller, a 67-year-old late-term abortion provider who was serving the
congregation as an usher that morning. News that Tiller had been killed
in church softened his public image, and tributes from family and
colleagues seemed to cut against the conservative media’s portrait of
him as a cold and calculating killer.

We
have a godawful habit of seeing children as things so small, cute and
fluffy that we hollow them of that dignity hard as titanium steel — the
dignity of being a human person.
