The Church in Mexico underwent a year of intense "social convulsions," engaging in direct confrontations with the coalition of leftist political parties that dominates the government of Mexico's capital city, according to "Recount 2007," published Dec. 30 by Desde la Fe ("From the Faith"), the weekly newspaper of the Archdiocese of Mexico. In addition, said "Recount 2007," the Church found itself doing battle with important sectors of the Mexican Congress and national political parties.
