BIRMINGHAM, Ala., July 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- The nation's first Pro-Life Freedom Ride for the Unborn launches tomorrow, to start with a rally/concert in Birmingham tonight and conclude with a prayer service at the tomb of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Atlanta Saturday afternoon.
Dr. Alveda King, Director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life, will lead the Freedom Ride along with other civil rights activists, clergy, and the Priests for Life pastoral team. "The pro-life movement is the civil rights movement," declares Dr. King. "We will ride this summer for the same cause as those who rode almost fifty years ago, that every single human being is worthy of equal protection under the law."
Tonight's 7:00 pm event at the Birmingham Jefferson County Convention Complex Theatre will feature speakers, music, and the premiere performance of "The Least of These," a new pro-life anthem written and performed by Jamie Owens Collins.
Saturday at 9:00 am, Freedom Riders will hold a prayer vigil at the Planned Parenthood abortion center on Birmingham's 27th Place South before boarding the bus for Atlanta at 11:30 am. At the ride's conclusion, a prayer will be offered at the tomb of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"This launches a new chapter in the pro-life movement," adds Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. "It's time to cash the check from the vaults of freedom and justice in America on behalf of children in the womb."

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
