“Hoping to find a good Catholic family”
Dear Pro-life friends, This is so unbelievable I had to confirm it myself before passing on this request. There is a woman (grandmother) at St.Therese Parish in Del Cerro whose daughter (age 33) about 45 days ago had both her legs amputated up to the knees, as well as her fingers due to complications from an illness. The daughter is a single-mom with three children, one of whom is staying with the grandmother, and the other two (both girls) ages 4, and 9 months (the baby has Down Syndrome) are with foster parents. The grandmother is overwhelmed with taking care of the daughter and other grandchild, and has limited space and limited finances, and cannot take care of the other two. The two grandchildren are temporarily in the county foster care system, and the daughter and grandmother are hoping to find a good Catholic family who would be willing to take the two grandchildren for perhaps 4 to 12 months while the daughter undergoes recovery and rehabilitation. This is not a typical foster care situation where the children need to be kept away from the mom. The grandmother and mom want to stay close to the kids (i.e. visits), but just don't have the capacity to take care of them. The foster parents will be eligible for county funds. Ideally, they would like to find someone who lives not too far away from the central-east county area of San Diego for visitation purposes. St. Therese Academy has offered to take the 4-year-old for all-day pre-school. Can you imagine what the mom is going through, waking up after being rushed to the emergency room to find both your legs missing and your children gone? If anyone can find it in their heart to help this poor family, please call Shawn Flemming at (619) 857-3303 (cell phone) or email him at Shawn@Fleminghomes.net. Shawn is in contact with the grandmother, and can provide more details. God bless, Roger
