Indiana Appeals Ruling Against De-Funding Planned Parenthood
Indiana has appealed a judge s ruling in June blocking an Indiana law that protects taxpayers from having to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business with public funds via family planning programs through Medicaid.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt in Indianapolis granted Planned Parenthood s request for a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit filed after Republican Governor Mitch Daniels signed the law in May. Now, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller has filed legal papers with a federal appeals court seeking to lift the injunction so Planned Parenthood can be de-funded while the lawsuit it filed against the state continues.

Indiana filed papers with the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday afternoon responding to the injunction the Planned Parenthood of Indiana and the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana received. The papers, according to an AP report, have the state arguing that Planned Parenthood shouldn t be the main party in the lawsuit because it involves a dispute between the state and federal government not only one individual organization or business denied money under the law preventing funding of abortion agencies.

This dispute belongs between the state and the federal government that administers and funds the Medicaid program, not between a private contractor and the state, Zoeller said. The proper place to argue this dispute is the federal government s own administrative hearing process, established for exactly this purpose. We hope the 7th Circuit will agree, reverse the U.S. District Court s decision and allow the administrative review to run its course. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/indiana-appeals-ruling-against-de-funding-planned-parenthood/

Facebook Adds Expected Child to Celebrate Baby s Coming Birth
As social media has completely revolutionized the way we communicate and share ideas, it has also given a voice to those among us who have no voice, the unborn.

Facebook s 750 million users now have the option of adding family members still in the womb to their list of Friends and Family on their profiles with Expected: Child. They also have the option of adding a photo of their unborn baby, the baby s name and a due date.

In a clear display of humanity, the unborn child is listed right alongside born family members, emphasizing that each member of the family is equally important and valuable. Once added, a notification is posted to the newsfeeds of all of the user s friends, giving everyone a chance to witness and celebrate the new human life.

With innovative technology like 4-D ultrasounds, iPad apps and social media to shine a light on the humanity of the unborn child, it is no wonder young people are more pro-life than the previous generation. The General Social Survey, which has collected opinion data on abortion using the same line of questioning since the 1970s, found that in most years, respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 tended to be the least sympathetic age group toward the pro-life position. However, that all changed around the year 2000 when the General Social Survey has found that those between the ages 18 and 29 have actually become more pro-life than their parents. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/facebook-adds-expected-child-to-celebrate-babys-coming-birth/

Kansas to Appeal Ruling Against Planned Parenthood De-Funding
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has indicated he will appeal a ruling a federal judge issued yesterday blocking a new law the Kansas state legislature approved that revokes taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten issued an injunction preventing the state from enforcing the law after Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri argued that it would suffer irreparable harm if the law was allowed to stand and that it would be forced to close one or more of its facilities because Kansas would direct hundreds of thousands of taxpayer funds to non-abortion medical clinics that provide the same services without also destroying the lives of women and unborn children in abortions.

Dr. Robert Moser, who was also sued in his capacity as Secretary for Kansas Department of Health and Environment, commented on the appeal, saying, Title X was not intended to be an entitlement program for Planned Parenthood. Other providers are already offering a fuller spectrum of health care for Kansas patients. This highly unusual ruling implies a private organization has a right to taxpayer subsidy. The people of Kansas disagree.

Kansans for Life also agrees with the appeal and its legislative director Kathy Ostrowski, pointed out that residents of the Jayhawk State have plenty of options for non-abortion family planning services like Planned Parenthood provides without having to go to an abortion business or have the state fund it. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/kansas-to-appeal-ruling-against-planned-parenthood-de-funding/

Black Pro-Lifers Share Abortion Expose at NAACP Convention
In what has become an annual tradition, a group of black pro-life advocates shared the pro-life message with participants at the annual NAACP convention. This time, the pro-lifers shared copies of a documentary exposing how abortion adversely affects the African-American community.

Rev. Clenard Childress of New Jersey and 17 members of the black pro-life group Life Education and Resource Network (LEARN) traveled to southern California to distribute 3,000 copies of the eye-opening documentary MAAFA 21 to attendees of this year s NAACP National Convention held at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

MAAFA 21 is a dynamic production produced by Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics that chronicles the history of abortion in America and the deliberate and systematic targeting of the African American community including highlighting the racist agenda of Planned Parenthood.

MAAFA 21 is a tremendous tool for social activists to use in the Black Community, said Rev Childress. It empirically documents Black Genocide in America. The seeds that were sown in these last four days are going to bring a harvest of witnesses and advocates to proclaim the truth about black genocide. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/black-pro-lifers-share-abortion-expose-at-naacp-convention/

Pro-Life Group Seeks Repeal of Individual Mandate in Romneycare
A statewide pro-life group in Massachusetts is starting an effort tomorrow designed to target the repeal of the individual mandate in Romneycare, the government run health care program Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney instituted.

The effort could be highlighted by Republican candidates seeking to criticize Romney on the issue many political observers say will be his biggest obstacle to winning the GOP nomination to face pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

Massachusetts Citizens for Life informed LifeNews earlier today it is holding a press conference tomorrow at the state capitol to announce that it is dropping off papers with the Massachusetts Attorney General for an Initiative Petition to repeal the individual mandate in Romneycare. MCFL president Anne Fox told LifeNews that the petition will draw attention to the fact that Massachusetts, the prototype for Obamacare, is not happy with Romneycare.

It will make health care an issue in the 2012 elections, when the petition will be on the ballot, Fox said, and will get the repeal Ronmeycare process started.

Because Romneycare is already so ingrained in state law and has been more fully implemented than the Obamacare law, Fox told LifeNews that the pro-life organization felt the best it could do is to try to repeal the individual mandate in an effort to protect state residents who don t want to be forced to purchase health care insurance that could potentially pay for abortions, as required by a state Supreme Court decision years ago. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/pro-life-group-seeks-repeal-of-individual-mandate-in-romneycare/

Poll: Obama Faring Poorly in Pennsylvania for 2012 Election
Quinnipiac University polling unveiled some troubling numbers for President Obama in Pennsylvania on Monday. The state, which is perpetually referred to as a swing state despite not having given its electoral votes to a Republican since George H.W. Bush in 1988, could make history in 2012.

A majority of respondents (52%) did not believe President Obama deserves to be reelected. Only 42% of respondents believed he deserves a second term. These numbers should be a warning sign for the President, who carried the state by over 10% in 2008 against John McCain.

It did not take long for Pennsylvania to sour on Obama following his inauguration in 2009. In a state that is renowned by pro-life advocates nationwide for its pro-life history and strong legislative record, President Obama s ardent pro-abortion policies did not sit well. By November 2010, the tides had turned on the President and he became a huge liability to Democrats running in the Keystone State. Formerly pro-life Democrats like Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper, Rep. Chris Carney and Rep. Paul Kanjorski were decisively ousted after voting for the President s pro-abortion healthcare law. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/poll-obama-faring-poorly-in-pennsylvania-for-2012-election/

San Francisco Launches New Law Attacking Pregnancy Centers
Officials in San Francisco are launching a new campaign to target pregnancy centers in the city that help women find abortion alternatives with a new law similar to ones passed in Baltimore and New York.

Supervisor Malia Cohen and City Attorney Dennis Herrera have spent months on an ordinance that would, if passed, require the pro-woman centers to disclose whether they are abortion alternatives agencies that, supposedly, don t provide comprehensive health care. The pair have made erroneous claims that the centers are engaging in misleading counseling and advertising.

The two announced the new initiative at a press conference where pro-life advocates participated and asked them questions challenging their assumptions. They say the legislation came about because of complaints about First Resort, a pregnancy centers that operates locations in San Francisco, Oakland and surrounding areas. The San Francisco Chronicle indicates Herrera sent a letter to First Resort claiming that its advertising methods are misleading by making women believe it does abortions, because they try to compete with abortion centers in purchase links at Google for searches on abortion. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/08/02/san-francisco-launches-new-law-attacking-pregnancy-centers/
