Can you sponsor a mile?

"I have watched Kristan Hawkins and Students for Life become one of the leading pro-life organizations in the country. Thanks to Kristan’s vision, leadership, and steadfast spirit, Students for Life are ensuring the next generation will be the last generation to see legalized abortion in America. New groups of Students for Life are planted on a regular basis and they need our help, so I hope you will please join me in praying for, and supporting the extraordinary work of Students for Life." - Troy Newman, President, Pro-Life Nation and Operation Rescue

Dear Friend,

1,802 miles, 300,000 voters, 1,500 volunteers,  and 12 committed young people.

We're Students for Life of America (SFLA), the only national pro-life organization dedicated to training and equipping the pro-life youth leaders of America. You may have seen our work featured in FoxNews, CNN, National Review, and the Washington Times.

With over 700 campus groups in forty nine states and outreaches now in medical and law schools, SFLA is identifying the future leaders of the pro-life movement, training them in what it takes to be successful, and helping those student leaders promote Life and offer alternative resources to women and families on their campuses.

In the next 49 days, our full-time team of 12 at Students for Life has committed to work harder than ever before. You see, we know that abortion will never end in our lifetime unless our nation's political leaders, in every level of office, begin to respect life. We know that politics is not the solution to ending abortion, but see it as an important mean.

And this morning, I'm asking you to join with us – to commit to prayer and financial support.

Our goal is simple – We want to reach 300,000 voter households before November 6th with the "I vote pro-life first" message to tell them why we believe abortion should be the first issue considered when casting a vote for a candidate.

That's why, next Monday, your Students for Life will do something we've never done before – we will go on the road, in a used van to be specific, and visit 9 of the largest universities in our nation, in 5 days in 4 key states.

We will drive over 1,802 miles for Life.

Our I Vote Pro-Life First Campus Tour will be headlined by Jill Stanek, pro-life activist, blogger, and former nurse whose personal story highlights the importance of having pro-life officials elected into our national and state governments. If you don't know who Jill is, you may remember seeing her all over the news a few years back. She was the Chicago nurse who found out her hospital was birthing babies alive and then letting them die as a form of abortion!

And as you may remember from the poll Students for Life released this summer, this generation of young people is split on abortion but planning to turn out in large numbers on November 6th. Yet, when told about one simple fact – the after birth abortion practice called infanticide – we were able to change their minds about how they would vote!

We plan to use our Campus Tour as a way to educate thousands of young voters about abortion and the importance of voting pro-life; registering hundreds to vote; and recruiting some of the 1,500 volunteers we will need to meet our 300,000 goal.

Friend, for months now, I have heard pundits, politicians, and close friends of mine in Washington tell me that abortion is simply a non-issue. Something that we should be quiet about until the end of the election.  However, that's not the case. From Con. Todd, Akin, to Gov. Mitt Romney, to President Obama, politicians simply cannot avoid the issue.

Why? Because our nation is hurting and abortion is everywhere.

Almost 1 in 2 women will have at least 1 abortion in their lifetime. Over 54 million children have lost to legalized abortion, a third of my generation. Women and men you know are hurting because of the decision they made when they thought abortion was their only choice.

This fall, Students for Life of America is stepping up and taking a huge leap of faith to make the biggest impact we can in this epic election.

I don't want to wake up on November 7th, wishing I had only done a little bit more.  I know that we must rise up and be the voice for the preborn during these next 53 days, and that's why we are going on the road. Our nation cannot stand another 40 years of legalized abortion.

As usual, SFLA has a lot going on this semester – as usual. We are starting over 50 new campus groups, visiting 17 medical schools with physicians, launching a new law school lecture series,  holding 8 regional conferences, and preparing for the largest pro-life conference in the nation this January. Yet, we have taken on this project – I Vote Pro-Life First – because we know that more must be done.

Today, will you stand with us and sponsor a mile on the tour? Even though you won't be able to be there in person, you can be there supporting us every single mile of our 1,802-mile journey.

We need your support for just $15 a mile.

In the next week, I need to raise $27,030 for our team's expenses on this tour, and you can help me do it. I need 1,802 committed pro-lifers to sponsor one mile each for just $15.

I hope you can pitch in and sponsor your mile and then pass this e-mail along to any pro-life friends and family members you may have for them to help. Sponsor a mile for you, your spouse, and your children. Sponsor a mile so your voice will be clearly heard throughout the United States that abortion must be abolished!

For Life,

Kristan Hawkins
President
Students for Life of America
