The U.S. Senate today failed to stop a Republican filibuster against pro-abortion Cornelia Pillard, a law professor President Barack Obama selected for an appointment to the most important appeals court in the nation.
Obama[s pick for the D.C. Circuit Court, who is one of the most pro-abortion ever nominated, saw senators vote 56-41 to invoke cloture on her nomination and proceed to a vote. Short of the 60 votes needed, Democrats were unable to stop the Republican filibuster against the abortion advocate. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
Poll: Americans Strongly Favor Repealing Obamacare, 55% Say Scrap It
A new national poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports finds Americans strongly support repealing the Obamcare health care law by a 13-point margin. The law has come under heavy criticism from pro-life advocates for abortion funding, sending taxpayer funds to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, and rationing healthcare.
The new survey finds just 35% of likely voters now believe the trouble-plagued health care law is good for America. Fifty-five percent (55%) consider it bad for the country. Only two percent (2%) think it will have no impact. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops today elected Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville as its next president. Kurtz is strongly pro-life and was behind a pro-life blessing for unborn children the Vatican adopted in March 2012.
We dehydrate to death helpless people to death in this country because they have a catastrophic cognitive impairment. Advocates for dehydration say it is just medical ethics, the withdrawal of the medical treatment of tube feeding. (Now, there is even a lawsuit to compel starvation by withholding spoon feedingnot a medical treatment!)
Dehydrating helpless people to death was once unthinkable. Then, in the 80s, bioethicists began advocating withdrawing tube-supplied food and fluids. And so it came to pass. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
Finally... moral, pro-life fiction that opens hearts and minds! This is what I was hoping would begin to spring from the Indie World. No way would NYC Corporate Publishing ever allow something with this worldview through. - a reader.
Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind. George Orwell, Politics and the English Language, 1946
File 2330 - This was going to be a post about the importance of clarity in language and freedom of expression, full of all sorts of quotes from George Orwell, whose writing very effectively highlights the dangers of censorship and the ugliness of using euphemism to defend the indefensible. Just to be sure, I googled George Orwell abortion, in case he had made some wildly pro-abortion statement that I hadnt heard of, but that could undermine the point of what I was writing. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
A new racy campaign called Got Insurance was released today with advertisements that are intended to tout the free birth control component of the Obamacare health care plan. The ads are bathed in sexual overtones, with one ad having a woman declare: Lets Hope Hes as Easy as This Free Birth Control.
Another ad has a young woman hoping to score with popular actor Ryan Gosling now that she has her own free birth control.
A pro-life student group today released a new video showing young girls not legally old enough for sexual relations were unable to buy the sudafed cold medicine but could easily purchase the Plan B drug. Although sex with a girl 15-years-old or younger if statutory rape, the girls had no problems getting the drugs at nationally-known stores.

Last week I wrote about unsanitary conditions at a Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood clinic that is part of the Planned Parenthood Keystone affiliate.http://www.lifenews.
We have written dozens of stories the common theme of which is that patients diagnosed in a persistent vegetative state or minimally conscious are either (a) misdiagnosed or (b) much more aware than they are given credit for. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
In October, CBS put the 5 Most Pivotal Episodes of The Good Wife* on its website, in anticipation of an explosive episode that aired on October 27. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
A national pro-life group has launched two new ads designed to help turn out the pro-life vote in favor of a ban on late-term abortions after 20 weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
The Pro-Life Movement Belongs to All of Us: Including Non-Christian Pro-Lifers
I recently became aware of a book which looks at the pro-life movement from an academic perspective The Making of Pro-Life Activists: How Social Movement Mobilization Works by sociology professor Ziad Munson. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/

As of yesterday, over 25,000 Albuquerque citizens had cast early ballots in a city-wide initiative that would ban abortions after 20 weeks and is on pace to set a new early-voting record. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
The Supreme Court will not hear an appeal from Oklahoma official seeking to restore the law the Oklahoma state legislature approved to allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child before an abortion. Instead, the Supreme Court justices let stand a state Supreme Court ruling that struck down the 2011 law passed by Oklahomas legislature. http://www.lifenews.com/2013/
