CONCORD, N.H., Sept. 25, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Senate candidate Scott Brown reaffirmed his extreme opposition to the New Hampshire Republican platformSaturday by defending "a woman's right to choose" abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.
The New Hampshire Republican Party recently declared its support for "the pre-born child's fundamental right to life and personhood under the Fourteenth Amendment." The strong pro-life statement is consistent with the national Republican Party platform, which supports "a human life amendment to the Constitution" and endorses "legislation to make clear that the 14th Amendment protections apply to unborn children."
The New Hampshire GOP platform also follows in the footsteps President Ronald Reagan's personhood declaration, which affirms "the unalienable personhood of every American, from the moment of conception until natural death."
"Can you imagine a Democratic Senate candidate doubling down on his unqualified hostility for the Democratic Party platform on such an important issue?" asked Keith Mason, President of Personhood USA. "There's no way the Democratic party bosses would allow it to happen. This is a clarion call for the Republican Party to stand up to poseurs in its own party who undermine principles of human rights and dignity."
"Scott Brown has staked out an extreme position on abortion that contradicts the conservative values of his electorate," Mason continued. "I commend the New Hampshire Republican Party for following in the steps of President Reagan by taking this principled stand on the most important human rights issue facing our nation."
Scott Brown is currently in a dead heat with his opponent Jeanne Shaheen. Both support legal abortion-on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy.
