In a world where possessions and power are often valued far above persons, it is important that the pro-life faithful pray in solidarity to remember all the unborn babies -- the real treasure of humanity -- killed since the Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion in this country.
This Saturday, September 13, Human Life International supports The National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Last year's inaugural event marked the 25th anniversary of the solemn burial of the discarded remains of 1,500 aborted children discovered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I encourage you to participate at your local memorial service, many of which will be held at the gravesites or designated memorial sites of aborted victims. When we gather in His name, our intercessory prayer honors the innocent victims - the living and the dead - in an effort to help us as a nation heal, forgive, and bring this devastation to an end.
Legalized abortion in America over the several decades is surely our country's greatest tragedy. In the Sermon on the Mount, Our Lord brings us renewed hope from our mourning and weeping in this vale of tears:
"Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
Our united prayers can help comfort our brothers and sisters who have lost children to abortion. Our united prayers for our aborted little brothers and sisters can testify to their humanity. Our united prayers, through the Holy Spirit, can turn hardened hearts, especially of those who work in the abortion industry, into compassionate hearts on fire to protect all life from conception to natural death.
Pray to our Heavenly Father for the grace to oppose the evil of abortion and the conviction to protect all innocent life, especially unborn children. Help us to remember all those who, made in your image, have died, commending them to your mercy.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Shenan J. Boquet
President, Human Life International
P.S. This second annual memorial event, organized by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life, and the Pro-Life Action League, is a day of services
planned in over 111 communities across the United States. I encourage you to take part in your community's services, or simply pray at your local gravesite or memorial dedicated to the unborn.

Ever since the From Ocean to Ocean Campaign in Defense of Life began in the Summer of 2012 in Vladivostok, Russia, the pilgrimage has encouraged the faithful to seek the intercession of Our Blessed Mother and has implored prayers from members of the Church, especially consecrated religious. In keeping with this mission, the pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa arrived in California with a commitment to visit area monasteries and increase devotion to Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Prayers are paramount for the success of this historic From Ocean to Ocean Campaign in Defense of Life campaign. The Pilgrim Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa has lifted the hearts of hundreds, if not thousands, of consecrated religious in her North American pilgrimage, as she had in Europe and will continue to do as she continues her peregrination.
