" These Masses are for the protection of unborn human persons. They are truly gifts for unborn babies," said Patrick Benedict, a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church(Diocese of Memphis in Tennessee) and the president of the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization. " I am very thankful for each person who has expressed his/her love for the unborn babies by having one or more Masses offered."
Persons who want to give unborn babies the gift of the Mass and take part in the 10,000 MASSES FOR UNBORN BABIES Novena may still do so. There are various ways this may be done, including contacting a retired priest and/or contacting a religious order. Then, a person may simply ask that one or more Masses be offered on any day from January 13th through January 21st, 2009 for the following intention: For the protection of unborn human persons.
After scheduling the Mass(or Masses), a person will want to contact the Saint Michael the Archangel Organization with that information so it may be included with the other Masses that are scheduled and posted on the homepage of the Organization's website. The Revised Edition of the BALTIMORE CATECHISM(#2), called A CATECHISM OF CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE(Copyright, 1941, by Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) gives the following information:
" The Mass is the sacrifice of the New Law in which Christ, through the ministry of the priest, offers Himself to God in an unbloody manner under the appearances of bread and wine."
For the question: Is there any difference between the sacrifice of the cross and the Sacrifice of the Mass?
"The manner in which the sacrifice is offered is different: On the cross Christ physically shed His blood and was physically slain, while in the Mass there is no physical shedding of blood nor physical death, because Christ can die no more; on the cross Christ gained merit and satisfied for us, while in the Mass He applies to us the merits and satisfaction of His death on the cross."
