Pro-life leaders to have 27 hours of prayer on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol to address taxpayer funded abortions.

Man Gunned Down While Holding a Pro-Life Sign to Be Honored at DC Event He had Planned to Attend

WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- There will be a special memorial service for Jim Pouillon who was recently gunned down in Michigan while peacefully holding a pro-life sign. Jim had planned to attend the prayer vigil at the Capitol and he will be honored during the prayer service.

The 27 hour prayer vigil is part of a national campaign called "Abortion is Not Health Care."

Christians will be praying for social justice and human rights and that no taxpayer funds will be used to pay for abortions in the current congressional health care plan.

The 27 hours of prayer will begin on Sunday, September 13 at 7:30 P.M. and will end on Monday, September 14 at 10:00 P.M.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "During the day on Monday, participants will be walking the halls of Congressional office buildings praying for individual Senators and House members.

"In times of great challenge and crisis, Americans have always turned to God in prayer. We have set these 27 hours apart to seek God for his wisdom, direction and counsel for our nation. This is especially true concerning the national debate on health care.

"We will be gathering on the historic West Lawn of the United States Capitol to humble ourselves and cry out to God for social justice and human rights. We will be specifically be praying that no public monies are used in any way to pay for abortions as part of health care reform.

"We will be a bold public and prophetic witness that abortion is not health care and that health care reform should bring healing and compassion not violence and brokenness. As people of faith, we do not have to sit on the sidelines and watch as events unfold on the world state. Rather, through prayer, fasting and repentance we can help shape history.

"The faith community will also be praying for President Obama to fulfill his public pledge before Congress and the American people that not one penny of taxpayer money will be used for to pay for abortions and the conscience clause on abortion will remain in place for health care providers."
