Obama Approval Drops 5 Percent to New Low Since Pro-Abortion Health Care Law
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new CBS News poll shows President Barack Obama's approval rating dropped 5 percent since he signed the pro-abortion health care bill into law. The CBS poll has him at a new low of 44 percent and a new Rasmussen poll has Obama down to a 46 percent approval rating.
Those numbers could explain why Obama is getting testy with reporters who are asking him about the low polling numbers for his approval and that of the pro-abortion health care program.
The latest CBS News Poll, conducted between March 29 and April 1, found Americans unhappier than ever with Obama and health care.
While 44 percent of Americans approve of Obama's performance, 41 percent disapprove -- down five percent since he signed the bill and down 24 percent since his high last April.
When it comes to health care, just 34 percent of Americans approve compared with 55 percent who do not.
The Rasmussen Reports daily presidential tracking poll released today shows 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of Obama's performance while 53 percent disapprove. That includes 31 percent of voters who strongly approve of Obama's performance while 41 percent strongly disapprove. Full story at LifeNews.com
Legal Group, Four Pro-Life Advocates Sue to Stop Pro-Abortion Health Care Law
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A pro-life legal group, for itself and four pro-life advocates in Michigan, has filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn the pro-abortion health care law President Barack Obama signed. Their suit joins several others -- including one from a doctors group and another from more than a dozen state attorneys general.
The Thomas More Law Center, based in Michigan, filed a federal lawsuit in the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
The suit challenges the constitutionality of the health care law Obama signed that funds and promotes abortions despite an executive order Obama also issued. The goal is to get a permanent injunction against the law.
A TMLC statement indicated none of the four pro-life advocates have health insurance and they are challenging the part of the law making them purchase insurance. They also object to provisions in the law forcing them to pay for abortions, which violate their religious beliefs.
Obama, Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Timothy Geithner, Secretary of the Department of Treasury, are named as defendants. Full story at LifeNews.com
Planned Parenthood Abortion Center Charged for Hiding Sexual Abuse Fires Staff
Birmingham, AL (LifeNews.com) -- The Planned Parenthood abortion center that was placed on probation by the Alabama health department for hiding a potential case of sexual abuse recently fired three of its staffers. The center received a one year probation from state officials in February.
As LifeNews.com reported, an undercover video showed a staffer at Planned Parenthood telling a woman who appears to be a victim of statutory rape that "we bend the rules."
The Birmingham Planned Parenthood counselor tells pro-life advocate Lila Rose, who pretends to be a 14-year-old statutory rape victim, that it "does sometimes bend the rules a little bit" rather than report sexual abuse to state authorities.
The video also showed a Planned Parenthood employee telling a woman posing as a teenager how she can evade the state's parental consent law.
Now, the pro-life advocates involved in the 40 Days for Life outreach in Birmingham indicate the abortion center laid off two of its staffers.
"Just last week, vigil participants learned that Planned Parenthood had laid off two staffers who often served as client escorts and the accountant who'd worked there for 17 years. The three employees were given only two days notice that their jobs were ending," David Bereit of 40 Days for Life writes.
Bereit received the information from a local pro-life advocate who told him, "The accountant said that she spoke to our volunteer because we had always been nice to her. She asked for our prayers and any help we could give her in obtaining new employment." Full story at LifeNews.com
Woman Hospitalized After Botched Abortion at California Planned Parenthood
Riverside, CA (LifeNews.com) -- An ambulance appeared at the Riverside, California Planned Parenthood abortion business on Tuesday to transport a woman to a local hospital after a botched abortion. The Planned Parenthood in Riverside is the location where three women have already died from failed abortions.
Ashley Colantuono of the pro-life group Survivors explains that an ambulance, fire truck, and a police car arrived, sirens blaring, in the parking lot at the Planned Parenthood late Tuesday morning.
Rachelle, a local pro-life woman helping women outside the center find abortion alternatives, said, I was so confused. I've been at this clinic three times now when ambulances have responded to a call, but they never used sirens (before).
Colantuono said the abortion practitioner appeared outside the Planned Parenthood about 10 minutes later and escorted a woman into the ambulance. The ambulance left the property and the other emergency response vehicles vacated shortly thereafter.
"At this time, we do not know any specifics about the well being of the woman taken transported in the ambulance," she said. Full story at LifeNews.com
Lilith Fair Drops Pregnancy Centers From Charity List, Keeps Abortion Business
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Four days after it first received national attention for including crisis pregnancy centers in its list of potential charity recipients, organizers of the typically pro-abortion Lilith Fair dropped them from consideration. Officials also dropped a pro-abortion group but kept another and kept a group of maternity homes.
Organizers brought the popular 1990s tour back this year and the Summer 2010 Lilith Fair team announced a "Choose Your Charity" campaign through which Facebook users are able to vote from a pre-selected group of charities.
They would receive $1 for every ticket sold in each concert city -- potentially generating tens of thousands of dollars for charities involved.
To the surprise of pro-life advocates, the Lilith Fair team included pregnancy centers in the mix of groups. No more.
The pro-abortion RH Reality Check blog indicates Lilith Fair dropped all of the pregnancy centers from consideration and the NARAL North Carolina affiliate. However, it kept the Feminist Women's Health Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Full story at LifeNews.com

Pro-Life Advocates Pray at Abortion Centers on Good Friday to Honor God
by David Bereit
Today is Good Friday -- the day Christians mark the crucifixion and death of the Son of God. In memory of Christ, 40 Days for Life volunteers in a number of cities are planning to pray at abortion centers today.
For instance, every member of the 40 Days for Life team in Everett, Washington is invited to pray outside the abortion facility today.
The same invitation has gone out in Syracuse, New York. Not only is it Good Friday, but the local Planned Parenthood center in Syracuse is doing a "pledge-a-picket" campaign.
Abortion businesses will do this as an attempt to get pro-life people to stay away. They say that the vigil participants are raising money for them.
In most cases, though, this is a desperation move to raise funds to make up for lost business, as clients see people praying and become convinced that abortion is not the answer.
In Houston, Texas, Planned Parenthood is also doing "pledge-a-picket," going so far as to say that the people praying are hired hands who are being paid a salary and benefits to show up for "40 Days of Harassment." Full story at LifeNews.com

Concert to Support Terri Schiavo Foundation, Features Randy Travis, Collin Raye
Indianapolis, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The family of Terri Schiavo, the disabled woman whose husband killed her by depriving her of food and water, will sponsor a benefit concert to raise funds for its foundation to help other patients like her. The show will feature popular country music recording artists Randy Travis and Collin Raye.
The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation is sponsoring the first-annual "Terri Schiavo Life and Hope" concert which will be held at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday, April 11.
"The concert comes just days after the fifth anniversary of Terri Schiavo's death and will benefit the Foundation established by her family," the Schindler family told LifeNews.com previously.
"This concert showcases two award-winning country stars in a rare appearance together on the same stage," the family foundation added. "It promises to be a fabulous music show, long to be remembered by country music fans."
With one of the most recognizable voices in country music and over twenty-five years on the country music charts, Randy Travis is one of the top-ten selling solo country artists of all time. Full story at LifeNews.com
Atlanta Billboard Vandalized That Educated How Abortion Targets Black Children
Atlanta, GA (LifeNews.com) -- At least one of the billboards in a campaign across the city of Atlanta to draw attention to the way in which abortion targets black children has been vandalized. The billboards read, "Black children are an endangered species," but one was changed to say, "Black Children Are Beautiful."
A CNN viewer on its iReport system noticed the vandalism of the billboard.
The viewer, using the handle caitelle, wrote the billboards have "understandably created a stir on both the local and national level in the past several months."
"I passed by the 'culture-jammed' version of the billboard on Tuesday, which has been liberated," the viewer said -- appearing to support the altered billboard.
Ryan Bomberger, the African-American founder of The Radiance Foundation, which sponsored the 80 billboards in and around Atlanta, talked about them in a recent interview.
"The best way to measure it is to see the way that the opposition has risen so strongly against it," he said. "More importantly to us, though, are the testimonies that have come in -- I mean the hundreds of e-mails that have come in as a result of the campaign, and many of them talking about personal transformations of heart and mind." Abortion Advocates Target Pregnancy Centers in Austin, Texas With Sign Law
Austin, TX (LifeNews.com) -- Fresh from their victory in Baltimore, Maryland where they forced crisis pregnancy centers to post signs saying they don't do abortions, abortion advocates are now going after pregnancy centers in Austin, Texas. The goal is to besmirch the work the centers do in helping women find alternatives and pregnancy support.
With pregnancy centers providing women legitimate help and alternatives, abortion businesses are experiencing a loss in profit as the number of abortions decline.
Making such centers post signs saying they don't provide abortions or birth control is one method of trying to siphon off their clientele.
As LifeNews.com reported, Baltimore officials approved a sign ordinance there, although the centers, with the help of the Catholic Archdiocese, have filed a lawsuit to overturn the ordinance.
On April 8, pro-abortion Austin City Council members will introduce an ordinance to require pregnancy centers to display similar signs.
The Texas affiliate of NARAL, a national pro-abortion group, is behind the effort. Full story at LifeNews.com

Pope Benedict XVI Hails Decision to Halt Distribution of Abortion Drug in Italy
Rome, Italy (LifeNews.com) -- Pope Benedict XVI hailed a decision by two local Italian officials to halt the distribution of the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug in their parts of Italy. According to Italian newspapers, the mifepristone abortion drug was scheduled to be disseminated throughout the country for the first time this week.
But two newly elected Italian regional officials pledged to halt the distribution of the drug, which has killed at least 13 women worldwide and injured more than 1,100 in the United States alone, according to 2006 FDA figures.
Roberto Cota, governor of Piedmonte region, said, according to AKI, that he will make sure hospitals, the only places authorized to distribute the abortion drug, do not get them. He said he hopes the drugs "rot in warehouses."
Pope Benedict XVI, during his Holy Thursday Mass, said, "It is important Christians not accept a wrong that is enshrined in law -- for example the killing of innocent unborn children." Full story at LifeNews.com
