Most of us in the pro-life arena are aware of a global effort to maximize abortions...below is some interesting information which should encourage all of us.
On June 23, 2010 there was a luncheon for Ave Maria School of Law at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Boca Raton. It was hosted by Lori & Chris Fluehr (members of St. Joan of Arc in Boca Raton) with the objective to introduce and acquaint those of us on the east coast of Florida with a Catholic law school just two hours away in Naples, Florida.
President and Dean Eugene Milhizer gave a wonderful presentation describing the benefits of an educational philosophy that emphasizes the moral foundations of the law, presents insights from the Catholic intellectual tradition, and encourages a broader perspective of the law and its role in society. During the Q & A session he related the following...certainly worth a mention in your parish bulletin.
Earlier this month, at the United Nations - sponsored "Women Deliver" Conference in Washington, DC, the most well known pro-choice lawyer from Latin America, who is responsible for Columbia's abortion-on-demand law, made comments expressing concern for abortionists because of the rising influence of Ave Maria School of Law:
"The famed Monica Roa told a legal gathering to "fear" Ave Maria Law School. Complete with a photo of the school in her PowerPoint presentation and an incendiary claim that the school is "training lawyers to counter pro-choice legislation." Roa said that they are "better funded and better educated" than the pro-choicers with "more time" to work on the issue!"
Ms. Roa was the leader of the pro-abortion movement in Columbia that transformed that country into the most unrestricted pro-abortion nation in Latin America. She has stated that her intention is to duplicate that result throughout the Western Hemisphere, nation by nation. The fact that she sees Ave Maria School of Law as such a threat is evidence of the Law School's global reputation for graduating well-prepared attorneys convinced of the truth about abortion.
Keep Ave Maria School of Law in your prayers...if you know of a Catholic young man or woman who is entertaining the legal profession, please mention the law school....It takes many of us to spread the word....Again, many thanks for your efforts!
