NO MORE 'MENTAL RETARDATION.' SO?

With the mistaken notion that babies born with Down syndrome are a burden or are expendable, many women who find out that they are pregnant with a baby with Down syndrome choose to abort the child. But those who have children with Down syndrome know that they are as much a blessing as a child who does not have Down syndrome. The way our society reacts to these children and treats them must undergo a fundamental change. Today's guest commentary examines what our society must do to accept these children-as they are all blessings from God and must be treated as such.

LATEX TREACHERY: A TALE OF BETRAYAL

Taking the pope's words and twisting them is something the secular media has often done. But, when the Vatican's own newspaper misrepresents the pope's statements, we should make our voices heard, so that this will not be tolerated. Judie's commentary examines the latest controversy and explains what we can do to help defend the Holy Father. Included at the end is a link to a letter to Archbishop Timothy Dolan of the USCCB. Complete it with your personal information and, when you are finished, you may either e-mail it to the archbishop or print it out and fax it or send by regular mail. Let your voice be heard that this is an important issue, not only as a member of the Church family, but to you personally.

Watson Pharmaceuticals makes abortion drug 'ella' available
Christian News Wire
The company responsible for the new abortion drug "ella" unveiled its website today promoting the drug's availability. Concerned Women for America (CWA) denounced Watson Pharmaceuticals for making the prescription drug easy to obtain and for deceiving women in its promotional materials. Wendy Wright, President of CWA, stated: "The information for doctors admits that ella caused abortions in animal trials, yet the website and information for patients does not warn women of this. Questions were raised that the drug may cause birth defects, yet the FDA allowed the drug company to avoid testing for birth defects. This is a deliberate effort to deceive women who would not otherwise take a drug that could harm their baby.

Organ wagons to make house calls

My Fox NY
It might sound a little disturbing to some people but a new pilot program will attempt to recover kidneys from people who die at home in Manhattan. A team of organ specialists will have about 20-minutes after a cardiac-arrest patient is declared dead to arrive at the home, check a donor registry, determine medical eligibility, obtain a family member's consent and get the person into a specialized ambulance. A special team will monitor 9-1-1 calls about people in danger of dying and they will travel directly to a person's home without being summoned.
