FRONT ROYAL, Va., June 10, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- "We are simply devastated," said Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International (LDI), after learning of the death of pro-life activist Jim Landy. A resident of Maryland and executive assistant to Mercedes Arzú Wilson of the Family of the Americas Foundation, Landy was died some 48 hours following a sudden brain hemorrhage.

"Jim was at work here in the morning and there was no sign that something may be wrong," Wilson said. "He left in the afternoon to go to a second job where he collapsed."

Due to the critical nature of his condition, Landy was transferred to a hospital in Washington, D.C. He passed away at 8:59 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2011.

Wilson described Jim as a "kind soul and a wonderful, caring man" who was committed to God and His work. Scott concurred. "There are few people in this world who make me stop and say to myself, 'I wish I were more like him,' but Jim's wit, compassion, humility, joy and overall character easily put him into that category. People who never had the chance to meet Jim really missed out on a wonderful experience."

Scott said there was never a time he spent with Jim that failed to bring a lot of laughter. "I will never forget the time I spent with Jim in China. As soon as we got off the plane, Jim said, 'Let's ask the taxi driver to take us to America-town.'"

"Goodbye, Jim. We love you. Our hearts are broken but we praise God for giving us the honor of knowing such a truly amazing man," Scott said. "We just wish it had been for much, much longer."

Landy was 46 years old. Service arrangements are pending.
