Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,

Study shows that cohabitation increases divorce. Dr. P. J. Smock, professor at the Population Studies Center at the University of Michigan, has published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, a new study on cohabitation in the United States. The result is "From the perspective of many young adults, marrying without living together first seems rather foolish and is increasingly becoming the first co-residential union formed among young adults. This number has doubled in the last two decades. Approximately half of couples who cohabit marry within three years; however, such couples have over five times the risk of experiencing a separation than of those who did not live together until marriage. This failure is more prevalent in white than in black or Hispanic couples".

New York is a dangerous place for small children. The New York City Health Department reports that 41% of pregnancies in that city are aborted. This is double the National rate.

"An Abortion Gulag" - Since legalization, there have been over 50 million legal abortions in the United States. We could compare this to the numbers exterminated in the Soviet Gulags during Stalin's time or the purges in China under Mao. They are roughly equivalent.

The unborn children need only you to speak for them. Silence is not an option.

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(Suicide): "BBC to broadcast Swiss suicide" - This is yet another blatant example of the BBC playing the role of cheerleader in the vigorous campaign being staged by the pro-euthanasia lobby to legalise assisted suicide in Britain.

****************************************

ITEM #1: The Contraception Contradiction

Growing evidence suggests that the "more contraceptives, fewer abortions" theory is flawed.

****************************************

ITEM #2: Bertone Defends Church AIDS Strategy

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone has opened an international conference on AIDS by strongly defending the church's two-pronged strategy against the disease, namely education of consciences and mobilization of Catholic health resources for patients.

****************************************

ITEM #3: You Are Funding Forced Abortions In China Through UNFPA

You are funding forced abortions in China. So am I. Not only elective abortions. Forced abortions. It doesn't matter whether you are pro-life or pro-choice on this issue. No one can support forced abortion, because it is not a choice.

****************************************

ITEM #4: Same-Sex Marriage and Human Fulfillment

Is there anything of substance to be gained for homosexuals from the current quest for same-sex marriage?

****************************************

ITEM #5: The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality: Guidelines for Education within the Family

Among the many difficulties parents encounter today, despite different social contexts, one certainly stands out: giving children an adequate preparation for adult life, particularly with regard to education in the true meaning of sexuality. There are many reasons for this difficulty and not all of them are new.

****************************************

ITEM #6: Thirty years after AIDS discovery, appreciation growing for Catholic approach

Hanley estimates that six million infections would have been averted in sub-Saharan Africa over the past decade if the Catholic approach of fidelity and abstinence had been promoted instead of widespread condom use.

****************************************

ITEM #7 Parental rights, decency out the window

Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, tells OneNewsNow that parental rights and decency are "meaningless" in public schools. "Wake up, parents. Public schools are no longer for the public," he says. "They're government institutions that think that you're children are their children -- and they are going to turn them into homosexual, bisexual, transsexual political activists."

****************************************

ITEM #8: Miscarriage

The wound comes from well-meaning people. "Well, it wasn't that far along." "You can always have another child." "Lots of people go through this." Miscarriage is a tragedy that so many people misunderstand. They are not quite sure how to console a friend or relative who has suffered this loss.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Millions lack access to palliative care, says Human Rights Watch

Tens of millions of people worldwide are denied access to inexpensive medications for severe pain, Human Rights Watch said in a report released earlier this month. The 128-page report, "Global State of Pain Treatment: Access to Palliative Care as a Human Right," details the failure of many governments to take even basic steps to ensure that people with severe pain due to cancer, HIV, and other serious illnesses have access to palliative care. As a result, millions of patients live and die in great agony that could easily be prevented, Human Rights Watch said.

****************************************

ITEM #10: Women and Development: 70% of the poor worldwide are women

According to recent statistics, women account for 70% of the poor around the world. They are disadvantaged in many aspects and are subjected to the risk of poverty and hunger because of the systematic discrimination they suffer in almost all sectors: education, work, health care, monitoring of activities, participation in society.

****************************************

ITEM #11: Jack Kevorkian: Pariah or Prophet?

The notorious euthanasia/assisted suicide advocate, Jack Kevorkian, died naturally and peacefully in his hospital bed last week at the age of 83, music playing at his bedside. As many have noted, his death had a certain irony. Despite being in declining health, he never took the out that he offered to other people.

****************************************

ITEM #12: Planned Parenthood Ties Itself in Knots of Deceit to Justify Population Eradication

Unless Planned Parenthood's indoctrination and population eradication is curtailed, the population pyramid will reverse itself worldwide. And when it does, it's a safe bet that PP will turn its attention to eliminating the inconvenient elderly. After all, generations that have allowed their own children to be aborted and contracepted out of this world should expect that they will be eliminated by the children they have schooled in the culture of death.
