40 Days for Life: 229 Babies Saved From Abortion in 20 Days
Today marks the midpoint of this 40 Days for Life campaign. The blessings are more than we can count! One thing we HAVE been able to count is the number of turnarounds reported by local campaign teams. So far, there have been 229 babies saved from abortion that we know of! Let s go straight to a few of these amazing stories.
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
As two volunteers began praying at the 40 Days for Life vigil were praying, a woman drove up and started yelling at them. You re not helping anything, she screamed. These women need someone to care for them, not harass them.
One of the volunteers tried to explain the vigil, but the woman wasn t interested. She just shouted some more and drove off. That was a bit unsettling, but the pair continued to pray specifically for the young woman they were watching. She was sitting with her mother in a parked car. Neither woman got out of the car. About 20 minutes later, they started the engine and headed towards the exit.
One of the volunteers walked in their direction and asked them if they needed help. The young woman said she had arrived for an abortion. But because of you on the sidewalk, I m not going to go through with it. What a testimony to this volunteer s commitment to stick with it even in the face of persecution! http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/40-days-for-life-229-babies-saved-from-abortion-in-20-days/
Herman Cain Presses No Compromise Pro-Life View on Abortion
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain pressed a no compromise pro-life view on abortion during a weekend interview with Meet The Press, and told host David Gregory he would not support abortion, including in cases of rape or incest.
What about abortion? You want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Could you support or condone abortion under any exceptions at all? Gregory asked Cain.
I believe in life from conception, and I do not agree with abortion under any circumstances, Cain responded. Not for rape and incest because if you look at, you look at rape and incest, the, the percentage of those instances is so miniscule that there are other options. If it s the life of the mother, that family s going to have to make that decision.
Pressed on the life of the mother exception, Cain stuck to his answer, saying, That family is going to have to make that decision. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/herman-cain-presses-no-compromise-pro-life-view-on-abortion/
Poll: Just 21% of Americans Agree With Obama on Abortion
A new national poll conducted by Angus Reid Public Opinion finds relatively few Americans agree with the pro-abortion position taken by President Barack Obama favor keeping abortions legal in all cases throughout pregnancy.
The polling firm released the results of a new survey today and found just 21 percent of Americans believe abortion should be permitted in all cases. Another 18 percent said abortions should be permitted but with the same restrictions on them that are currently in place.
Meanwhile, 13 percent held the pro-life view that all abortions should be illegal and 27 percent took a position opposing 98% of all abortions, saying they should only be legal in the very rare cases such as rape, incest or saving the life of the mother. Another 8 percent say abortions should be legal but subject to more strict limits than are currently in place.
The survey showed women were more likely than men to take a position favoring legal abortions, but within the margin of error making it so men and women essentially have very similar views on abortion. While 12 percent of Americans are unsure of their abortion position in the poll, women are more unsure 14-9 percent than men. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/poll-just-21-of-americans-agree-with-obama-on-abortion/
Planned Parenthood Misleads Women About Chemical Abortions
The following is from the horribly shallow explanation of how a chemical abortion procedure occurs found on Planned Parenthood s website. Pathetic partial-truths like these keep women in the dark about what really happens during an abortion. What other motives does Planned Parenthood have in hiding the details from women except monetary incentives? Denying women information is no different than from lying to them.
STEP ONE THE ABORTION PILL
The abortion pill works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Without progesterone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, and pregnancy cannot continue.
This cursory description of the initial phase of a medical abortion is the equivalent of telling a heart surgery patient, Well, you have a heart problem. Without a heart you can t live. So we ll fix it, and leaving it at that. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/16/planned-parenthood-misleads-women-about-chemical-abortions/
Students Worldwide Silently Speak for Unborn Children Tuesday
Students around the world and across the United States will silently speak for unborn children on Tuesday as they take a vow to not speak in their high school, junior high and college classrooms so their peers understand what happens in abortions.
Tomorrow, students will be sending a loud and clear message that abortion must end and all innocent human life must be protected from conception to natural death, said event organizer Bryan Kemper, founder Stand True Ministries and Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life.
The young people will sacrifice their voices tomorrow for the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity, and they will do it in honor and memory of a young abortion abolitionist and her unborn daughter who were killed in a car accident recently. As Bryan Kemper told LifeNews recently, this year s event is dedicated to Students for Life of America leader Kortney Blythe Gordon and her baby Sophy.
The day is about sacrifice and that is why it is fitting that this year s event is dedicated to Kortney, he said. Kortney was a beacon of light and sacrificed more than anyone can ever imagine in her fight as an abortion abolitionist. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/students-worldwide-silently-speak-for-unborn-children-tuesday/
Webcam Abortions Head to Minnesota, Wisconsin May be Next
The Planned Parenthood abortion business has expanded its webcam abortions taking the dangerous practice of denying women an in-person meeting with a physician before using the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug to Minnesota.
The practice started with the Planned Parenthood of the Heartland affiliate using it in Iowa, a rural state where the abortion business has a difficult time getting an abortion practitioner to each of its clinics. As a result, it set up a process by which the abortion practitioner only visits with the woman considering using the mifepristone abortion pill via a videoconference, as opposed to an in-person visit the FDA suggests.
With the drug having killed dozens of women worldwide and injured more than 2,200 alone in the United States, according to April 2011 FDA figures, pro-life groups have been concerned about Planned Parenthood putting women s health at risk.
Now, officials with Wisconsin Right to Life inform LifeNews that Planned Parenthood has begun using the extremely dangerous RU 486 web-cam abortion technique in Minnesota. According to Planned Parenthood Minnesota spokesperson Connie Lewis, the organization began doing webcam abortions at their Rochester facility making it the first time the abortion business has expanded doing abortions beyond the twin cities area. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/webcam-abortions-head-to-minnesota-wisconsin-may-be-next/
Pennsylvania: Pro-Life Tim Burns Challenging Sen. Bob Casey
Pro-life businessman Tim Burns (R) has officially announced that he will challenge Democratic Senator Bob Casey, Jr. in 2012. Burns has run for the US House twice before. He lost to Mark Critz (D) in the May 2010 special election to fill the seat of the late Congressman John Murtha (D) and then again in the general election in 2010.
Traditionally, losses in such high-profile races would limit a candidate s future ambitions. (One need not look further than Senator Santorum s 2006 defeat and the subsequent damper the loss left on his presidential hopes.) However, Burns told PoliticsPA he views the losses as an asset;
I ran in a district that had barely 29% Republicans, virtually no Independents and I ran against what was supposed to be John Murtha s protégé and still managed to raise $2 million, Burns argued. I over performed for registration substantially. If I did that then at the state level, I think I could win in a landslide. I think you have to put that last campaign in perspective.
Burns founded a pharmaceutical company in 1992, which has grown to employ over 400 workers. In a campaign likely to center on fiscal issues, Burns resume will make him a leading contender for the Republican nomination. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/pennsylvania-pro-life-tim-burns-challenging-sen-bob-casey/

Bills Helping Women Hear the Heartbeat Will Save Lives
When Austin and I learned we were pregnant for the fourth time, we rushed to the radiology lab not the usual response to such happy news, but this pregnancy followed three miscarriages and so we had a routine: positive home pregnancy test followed quickly by a blood test to check for hormone levels and then an ultrasound to try to see what was happening. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/bills-helping-women-hear-the-heartbeat-will-save-lives/
Australia Doc Argues for Sex-Selection Designer Babies Via IVF
An obstetrician in Sydney, Australia is drawing outrage from across the globe as he told a newspaper this weekend that parents should be able to use sex-selection abortions to balance their families evenly with boys and girls. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/17/australia-doc-argues-for-sex-selection-designer-babies-via-ivf/
New Zealand Political Leaders Won t Answer Abortion Survey
It is disappointing that the leaders of the two main political parties and the Maori party have refused to answer a questionnaire recently presented to them by Family First. Peter Dunne, the leader of the United Future Party and Winston Peters, Leader of the New Zealand First Party among others are commended for their openness in providing a full response to the questionnaire. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/10/16/new-zealand-political-leaders-wont-answer-abortion-survey/
