ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Jan. 9, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 10:00 am, Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler is scheduled to testify in Concord, New Hampshire in support of HB 1147, a Bill to proclaim March 31 of each year as a day to remember Terri Schiavo.

The Bill is sponsored by State Representative Jerry Bergervin (co-sponsored by Representative Daniel Itse) stating that "The governor shall annually issue an annual proclamation calling for March 31 as a day to remember the tragic death of Terri Schiavo".

The Schindler family applauds Representative's Bergervin and Itse not only for their dedication to people with cognitively disabilities but for the awareness they are raising regarding this issue, understanding that persons with profound brain injuries should receive nothing less than the love, care and compassion they most definitely deserve.

Terri Schiavo's brother said this, "My family is truly grateful to see a bill like this to remember my sister, Terri. I continue to be profoundly touched by the people who are deeply impacted by Terri's death. As a nation known for protecting its weakest citizens, we must never forget the inhumane manner in which my sister was deliberately killed and at the same time, recognize there are hundreds of thousands of others like Terri that need our compassion, love and protection."

Terri Schiavo died on March 31, 2005 after Circuit Court Judge, George Greer, at the request of her estranged husband, ordered that Terri's food and water (via feeding tube) be removed, which began an almost two-week slow death by starvation and dehydration. Since that time the Schindler family established the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network to help other individuals and families faced with situations similar to what the Schindlers experienced trying to ensure that Terri continue to receive proper care.

The Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit group dedicated to helping persons with disabilities, and the incapacitated who are in or potentially facing life-threatening situations. For more information or to join Terri's Life & Hope Network: www.lifeandhope.com.
