Dear HLI Family,
Happy New Year!
As the season of remembering the birth of our Savior comes to a close, I am more energized than ever to work with you and our pro-life missionaries in seeing that the unborn are able to claim their right to life. I don't know about you, but I am ready to make even more progress this year in building a worldwide Culture of Life.
I hope that you have had a chance to recharge your batteries and to really deeply connect with the Lord of Life during this holy season. I also hope that you have been able to reconnect with family and close friends, which seems to become more and more difficult the busier we get in our daily lives. After spending some time back home in Houma, Louisiana, and having my fill of gumbo and other treats here in the Bayou, I can't wait to get back to God's work of defending life and the family.
I also look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the March for Life in the nation's capital on Monday, January 23. I have some meetings and a talk or two to give, but I will definitely be marching and I hope you will find me and say hello. Please also stop by our table at the March for Life conference center at the Hyatt just down from the Capitol, Saturday evening through Monday afternoon. There will be several wonderful pro-life groups in attendance, so it would be greatly beneficial to those in attendance to spend an hour or so getting to know those who share our passion for life.
Of course, most can't make it all the way to Washington, D.C. for the march, but there are more and more local marches for life popping up every year - see if you can't join others in your hometown in solidarity for life, or organize one yourself!
Another event coming up soon where we will be out meeting our supporters, and hopefully growing the HLI family, will be held February 9 - 11 at CPAC, the largest gathering of conservative political activists in the nation. This is a new outreach for HLI as we do not typically involve ourselves directly in politics. But the simple fact is that our nation's policies have become so aggressively anti-life, in particular with how we spend our money on "development" internationally, that we want to be sure that the voices of HLI's family are heard by those for whom policy and politics are very important. Our role is still educational, but we also need to educate those who do not see the real, human effect that our nation's destructive policies have on the families of the developing world.
I hope you will join us at either or both of these very important events!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Shenan J. Boquet
