HEADLINES | | Obama commitment to religious freedom 'worrisome' The Washington Times President Barack Obama issued a proclamation declaring January 16, 2012, Religious Freedom Day. In that document, Obama reaffirmed "that the American people will remain forever unshackled in matters of faith." In his weekly address of Sept. 15, Obama stated, "We stand for religious freedom and we reject the denigration of any religion." Such clear statements make me worry about the state of our president's mental health. Could it be that he has forgotten that currently over 30 lawsuits have been filed against his administration based on its policies violating religious freedom rights----including a suit filed by the Catholic Church, which represents over one in five of all Americans? |
| Who are the 'one in three'? National Catholic Register According to Planned Parenthood's Guttmacher Institute, "One in three women will obtain an abortion before the age of 45." This statistic is featured in a new pro-choice campaign, 1 in 3. The message is that abortion is so common, so widespread, that there should be no stigma attached to the procedure. We should, they say, be working hard to ensure that the one in three women who get an abortion can do it easily, without fuss, and that they can talk about it openly, without shame. The sheer numbers of women involved with abortion show that abortion is here to stay----and that it's no big deal. One in three women in America will obtain an abortion. And here are some other statistics about women in America. |
| The meaning of 'health' Human Life International Twelve years ago, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approved the deadly abortion drug RU-486 for use in the United States. The "abortion pill" is seen by many as an easier method of having an abortion because no surgery is involved. You can even buy the pills off of the Internet and take them at home. Like other abortion methods, where a child is killed and the mother physically, emotionally and spiritually harmed, RU-486 is considered to be "safe" by the promoters of an ideology who have actually almost succeeded in changing the meaning of the word "health." | |
