In the formation of conscience the Word of God is the light for our path; we must assimilate it in faith and prayer and put it into practice. We must also examine our conscience before the Lord's Cross. We are assisted by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, aided by the witness or advice of others and guided by the authoritative teaching of the Church. - Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1785
As
I travel this week to speaking engagements in Big Bear, California, and
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I find myself further affirmed in proclaiming the
Word of God to light the path for Jesus' followers in a world darkened
by the Culture of Death.
Whether
I'm traveling in the U.S. or overseas, I see a great many people
thirsting for Truth, desiring to be nourished in the Faith through
proper formation in light of scripture and Church teaching. Truth can
never be compromised; sin can never be justified. When the Gospel of
Life is proclaimed against the sinfulness of abortion, contraception,
cohabitation, euthanasia, and same-sex unions, people find themselves
empowered to live the life that Christ desires of his followers. This,
in turn, builds healthy, God-centered marriages, families and societies.
Proclaiming the Truth is our focus at Human Life International no matter where our missionary travels take us, as you'll soon read about on our most recent missionary trip to Taiwan. Dr. Brian Clowes, Dr. Ligaya Acosta, and I taught intense faith formation sessions, which will organize and equip pro-life leaders for the next Asia Pacific Congress on Life, Faith and Family (ASPAC) in 2015. Bishops, priests, seminarians, and laity came together to learn how to be effective missionaries in the Culture of Life in Taiwanese communities.
I encourage you to pray fervently for all of our HLI Missionaries who, day after day, reach out to all people defending life, faith, and family. Together, we can provide the support necessary to bring people to the Truth in Christ.
Calling on the intercession of the great saint, John Paul II, let's put the Word of God into practice against the evils that exist in the world today.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Shenan J. Boquet

Missionary
work, though a privilege, can be exhaustive, but time is of the essence
as Dr. Ligaya Acosta, HLI Director of Asia and Oceania, attests.
Promoting the value and beauty of every human person is imperative in
countries gripped by secularism - where little or no protections exist
to defend life and where religious freedom is non-existent.
Such
is the case in Taiwan, where Dr. Acosta arrived on October 13 with HLI
President Father J. Shenan Boquet. Dr. Brian Clowes, HLI's Director for
Research and Education, arrived two days later. Her previous missionary
trip in May 2013 opened the doors for HLI to host the next Asia Pacific
Congress on Life, Faith and Family (ASPAC) in November 2015 with the
Chinese Regional Bishops Conference (CRBC). -more-

A
unified body of Latin American bishops, priests, and seminarians openly
deplored the "culture of death" with an official proclamation at the
Third Latin American Congress of Priests and Seminarians for Life (REDESSVIDA).
The Proclamation of Guadalajara was read by Father Shenan J. Boquet,
President of Human Life International (HLI) at the University Del Valle
in Atemajac in Guadalajara, Mexico on October 10, 2014.
"This
congress was a total success with an assembly of bishops, priests and
seminarians focused on ways to effectively promote and defend life from
conception to natural death," said Mario Rojas, Director of HLI Latin
America. "This congress presented an opportunity for many to embrace the
challenge to oppose the anti-life agendas that threaten life and family
- and to do so in a special proclamation that affirms the teachings of
the Catholic Church." -more-

The
worldwide pilgrimage of the traditional Christian icon of Our Lady of
Czestochowa, also known as the Black Madonna, will soon depart the
United States for Mexico and the rest of Latin America. The coordinating
organization, Human Life International (HLI), announced today the
events in Phoenix, Arizona that will culminate in transfer of HLI's
custodianship to Father James Heyd, a priest of the Archdiocese of
Chicago and well known advocate for life and family. -more-
