Many are anticipating the outcome of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which meets through October 19 at the Vatican. Please join me in praying for the bishops and the Holy Father to bring into focus the very real challenges of marriage and family life in complete harmony with Magisterial teaching.
As
most of us know from our own communities, and we see in our missionary
travels around the world, so many families are in crisis. As a result,
societies are as well. Secularized nations that embrace anti-life
policies contribute heavily to the disintegration of family life. People
do not necessarily connect the crises their families face with the
devastating consequences of the contraceptive mentality, and the Culture
of Death that has grown exponentially in the wake of the wide
acceptance of this mentality. Many have limited or no knowledge
of Church teachings against contraception, abortion, euthanasia, and the
true understanding of marriage. And yet, every day more are learning
that, as Saint John Paul II said years ago, the future of the Church
passes through the family.
Wherever we go proclaiming the Gospel of Life, families find hope. Just as Father Marx envisioned, we're the foot soldiers on the ground empowering people to not only embrace, but to cultivate, a Culture of Life -- right where they are, right now. We must prevail against these threats that tear families apart!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Shenan J. Boquet

The Catholic world was shaken upon the release of Walter Cardinal Kasper's The Gospel of the Family, in which he proposed that the Church permit divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to be admitted to Eucharistic Communion.
Remaining in the Truth of Christ, officially released today, is the thorough and charitable response to Cardinal Kasper's proposal, both for the arguments presented and for an exhaustive index of relevant Magisterial teaching presented therein. In short, it is required reading to complement our required praying during the Extraordinary Synod on the Family that is currently underway, and its aftermath...
Slovenia Bishop Stanislav Lipovsek attends Pro-Life Conference. |
by Dr. Ligaya Acosta, Director of Asia and Oceana
Pro-life conferences are on the rise around the world as people seek ways to promote a Culture of Life, especially in secular societies ridden with the devastating effects of abortion. At one such conference held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Father Shenan Boquet and I aimed to empower the lay faithful, bishops, priests, seminarians, and students to promote the value and beauty of every human life.
When I speak on the Culture of Life versus the Culture of Death, many people are frightened to learn that their culture is dying. Two million people live in Slovenia where abortion on demand has been legal since 1977, and under the law, abortion can take place up to 10 weeks in pregnancy...

Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church,
a large and beautiful church established in 1969 in Anaheim,
California, started as a mission parish that combined St. Mary's in Van
Nuys and St. Nicholas of Fontana. Evident today is a parish embracing a
strong liturgical life and vibrant religious education programs for
adults and children. Upon the arrival of the Black Madonna on
September 2, Father James Barrand led a solemn procession of the Pilgrim
Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa around his church with a throng of
parishioners...
