ATLANTA, Jan. 20, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Governor Nathan Deal will be a featured speaker at Wednesday's "Georgia March for Life" (January 22, 2014) sponsored by Georgia Right to Life.
Governor Deal will issue a proclamation declaring January 22 "Respect for Human Life Day."
Starting at 11:15 a.m.
on the steps of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta with praise and
worship, the event will also include a mile-long silent march through
downtown Atlanta.
"We
are extremely grateful that Governor Deal is lending his support to
our cause," said GRTL President Dan Becker. "His presence will help
ignite a renewed commitment to protecting all innocent human life."
The
annual event, first held in 1980, was originally called "Together for
Life." In past years, it has attracted as many as 15,000 participants.
The
keynote speakers include Pam Stenzel, who was conceived in rape and
later adopted, and Dr. Robert White, executive director of Georgia
Baptist Convention. Numerous state legislators are also expected to
attend as well as several U.S. Congressman.
"Georgia
is recognized nationwide as a model for how to speak for those who
can't speak for themselves," Becker said. "This march will serve as a
reminder that we can't stop until the personhood of every individual,
regardless of age, manner of conception, or condition, is recognized
and protected."
Previous
speakers at the event have included Dr. Alveda King, Pat Robertson,
Cal Thomas, Governor Mike Huckabee, and Sean Hannity.
