EUROPE/SPAIN -

Madrid (Agenzia Fides) – A total of 190 activities and 87 rallies in 50 cities across Spain will be taking place against the abortion reform law, in addition to similar events in Cali (Colombia), Buenos Aires, Bahía Blanca (Argentina), Lima (Peru), and Sao Paulo (Brazil). There will also be a March for Life on March 29, at noon in Madrid. All of the above enters into the itinerary planned for the First Week for Life organized by Right to Life (DAV), "HazteOir.org," Doctors for Life, and ProLife Madrid.
This year, in addition, the celebration coincides with the drafting of an abortion reform law by the Spanish Government, which will be at the focus of the events in Spain and the acts of solidarity taking place in South America.
Between Wednesday, March 25 and Sunday, March 29, various activities are taking place in all the provinces and the largest Spanish cities.
All this preparatory organization will culminate in the March for Life in Madrid on March 29, which will be the first demonstration to be held in support for the right to life, support for the pregnant woman, and against the abortion reform law. The March for Life will begin at the Offices of the Ministry for Equality and will end at the Congress Building, where a Manifesto in support of life will be read. This same Manifesto will also be read in the various city halls throughout Spain.
National spokesperson for Right to Life (in Spanish, DAV), Dr. Gador Joya, the main promoter of the Madrid Declaration on Abortion, Professor Nicholas Jouve, and a representation of over 100 professional and student groups will hold a press conference today, March 25 (Day for Life), presenting the March for Life and the events to be held throughout Spain on the same day at the same time.
One of the new features of the Day this year is the participation of even the littlest members of society, with Pro-Life Drawing contests organized by the citizens' group HazteOir. Thirty schools have already entered the contest. This coming Saturday, there will also be an International Pro-Life Song Writing Contest, organized by Youth for Life, which was one of the newly-added events last year.
