Time to Get Off the Fence and Be Active
Notre Dame’s president, Fr. John Jenkins, has betrayed the teachings of Christ and the Church in lieu of the prestige of Obama speaking at the university and giving him an honorary degree. Both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI relayed that Catholic institutions must adhere to Catholic teachings or remove the Catholic name off of institutions that do not act in accordance with the Catholic faith.
John Paul II speaking to leaders of Catholic Universities said:
“The challenges that confront you are just as testing as your forefathers faced in establishing the network of institutions over which you now preside. Undoubtedly, the greater challenge is, and will remain, that of preserving and strengthening the Catholic character of your colleges and universities - that institutional commitment to the word of God as proclaimed by the Catholic Church.”*
The question must be asked. Would the university president invite the murderer of millions, Hitler, to speak? What is the difference in inviting someone who has aggressively enacted policy to kill millions of babies in the womb and even funding and expanding these killing programs to many nations? Explain to us how God sees any difference. A Hitler to the womb? What is, is what is.
The bishop of the diocese where the University of Notre Dame is located has said he will boycott the speech. Bishop John D’Arey has taken a good step, but if one can do more, one must do more. Respectfully call upon Bishop D’Arey to direct Notre Dame’s President, Fr. John Jenkins to cancel Obama’s talk. Relay to the bishop’s office your respectful encouragement for him (the bishop) to be strong, and to do what is within his power as bishop to uphold the Church, specifically to pull Fr. Jenkins’ faculties to operate in his diocese if he refuses to cancel the speech.
Our Lady said on February 25, 1997, “…become active…see at this time who needs your spiritual or material help…”
We, as Christians, must be active and stand while we can. Is this action in accordance with Our Lady’s love? Our Lady says we are to witness love. This love of the Church and the concern for it to remain strong supersedes any concern that our actions may offend the public office holder, whose open defiance of the Church is what has led Christians to stand and defend the Church.
You can contact the bishop’s office at 260-422-4611, Bishop John D’Arey, Fort Wayne, Indiana, South Bend Diocese, to voice your respectful encouragement to the bishop to have the university’s president, Fr. John Jenkins, cancel Obama’s speaking engagement or pull his faculties to operate in the diocese.
Also very important, call and write Fr. Jenkins’ superior and voice the same to him.

The uproar among alumni and other Catholics is growing over this scandal so much that the White House responded, Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Obama responded through his White House spokesman who said:
“The spirit of debate and healthy disagreement on important issues is part of what he loves about this country.”
Millions of dead babies is healthy disagreement?
For the first time since our Nation’s founding we have a President and administration aggressively endorsing and implementing policy for abortion.
Act on this and pass the phone number to all your friends.
Water cannot stay water, once it passes 212 degrees.
It changes to steam.
