HEADLINES | | Former supermodel Kathy Ireland backs effort to end Planned Parenthood funding Life Site News Former supermodel, now pro-life advocate, Kathy Ireland added her voice this week to those calling on Congress to eliminate federal funding of Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion provider. "I think Planned Parenthood needs to reassess and look at what their values are, what their mission is, what their goals are, and do they deserve government funding? For example, there are non-profits that I'm involved with, and we don't get government funding," Ireland told FoxNews. "We go out there, and if you really believe in this strongly enough to fight it for it, go get the funding," she continued. "To force people who don't agree with some of the practices, I don't believe in that. I don't think taxpayers need to fund something as controversial as [Planned Parenthood]." | While the national abortion rate drops, the abortion rate among the poor goes up Priests For Life A recent analysis conducted by the Guttmacher Institute and published in the Journal Obstetrics & Gynecology finds that "[a]bortion rates fell among most groups of women between 2000 and 2008, except for those classified as poor." Planned Parenthood promotes promiscuity through their "sex education" and then promotes "responsible" sexual activity by providing birth control. Planned Parenthood know that the more sexually active you can get a community, the higher the risk of unplanned pregnancy and the more money they will make from performing abortions. They know that a percentage of birth control will fail. And if you provide substandard (as reported by former Planned Parenthood employees) birth control, the failure rate inevitably goes up. |
Pepsi ignores criticism on use of aborted cells in research Life News PepsiCo is ignoring criticism from pro-life advocates upset that the company contracts with a research firm that uses fetal cells from babies victimized by abortions to test and produce artificial flavor enhancers. Last week, dozens of pro-life groups called for a boycott of Pepsi because of information that came to light in March showing biotech company Senomyx was found to be testing their food additives using fetal cells from abortions. Senomyx ignored a letter from the pro-life group Children of God for Life, which complained about its practices. | |
