Germantown, Maryland – An activity schedule for the Summer of Mercy 2.0 event has been released that will encompass nine days of activism focusing on stopping late-term abortions that are currently done in Germantown by the notorious late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart. The event will be conducted July 30 through August 7, 2011. The kick off rally is scheduled to be hosted at Covenant Life Church in nearby Gaithersburg and will feature Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life. In addition to evening rallies at local churches, the nine day event will also feature street rallies, prayer vigils, and prayer events at the Maryland State House and outside the Washington, D.C. office of House Speaker John Boehner. The event will culminate on Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 P.M. with attendees forming a unique “Cross 4 Life” along the streets near Carhart’s late-term abortion clinic in Germantown. “We expect this to be an amazing and powerful nine days of activism to call attention to the plight of innocent babies, especially those in the late stages of pregnancy, who are being targeted for abortion by Carhart in Maryland,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. Carhart is currently under formal investigations in Nebraska and Maryland for alleged abortion abuses. The Summer of Mercy 2.0 is being sponsored by Operation Rescue, the Maryland Coalition for Life, the Christian Defense Coalition, and several other groups and local churches. Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
